Transport from KK Airport to Kinabalu Park Aug 20 6PM
by traveller711
I'll be arriving at Kota Kinabalu Airport 6PM and will need to go to Kinabalu Park immediately. Are there any transport options i could take at this hour of the night besides a taxi which i heard would cost around 450RM?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
The price for transportation hire is almost the same. Another option you have is to hire a vehicle (Sedan/7 seater van) with driver from local travel agent. For this you'll need to pre-book it with them. I guess you can get this at a cheaper price than taxi, @ about RM400?
Have fun

@sabahgirl: Thank you very much for your response. It is highly appreciated.
I turned to Sutera, where I got my 3d2n package, and asked for their airport pickup options. Surprisingly, they charged cheaper than taxi at 200RM. And I also found someone who will share the ride (and expense) with me. With vehicle arranged, I only have to worry about hotel on my last night which I thought I would just choose on that night itself.
Thanks again! and to those who are reading this, i hope this may help you somehow ;)

This city map is very, very helpful. Even for a local like me as it has the most updated locations of (new) restaurants, hotels as well as places of interests.
Very essential if you're travelling solo. Get this map for free and you'll do fine :-)

Things to Bring up Mt KK
by meliaz
Don't carry too much, just enough for one night's stay. Make sure you have some water proof bags or some plastic cover readily available in case it rains. Make sure you have some warm clothing for your night hike up Mt KK to watch the sunrise. Things like gloves, a good windbreaker are a definite must. When you hike, you'll be quite warm so you won't need your jacket, however, when you stop, the wind will definitely get to you. Bring some medication of your own in case of emergency - heat rub, paracetamol (Panadol), pain killers, carbon pills. Bring cash as food is expensive on top of Mt KK. Better yet, bring some of your own food - things like muesli / energy bars, chocolate, 3-in-1 packet drinks, these are things that aren't really heavy and would cost 10x more on top of the mountain. Bring water for your hike up the mountain as well. You'll easily drink a litre of water at least and there's no clean water source available on the way up. Don't throw away you water containers / bottles though. You can fill up at the restaurant at Laban Rata for free later on for your trip downhill the next day.
Jogging at Tun Fuad Stephens Park
by syetan
You can also go jogging at Tun Fuad Stephens park, it's a longer stroll than the one at the sports complex and has a bigger lake where you can rent a boat and food stalls are located around it. As with the sports complex there are no lockers so travel light and keep your valuables well hidden in your car.
Surviving the Padas River in Style!!!!
by theDreamCatcher
yes another white water rafting adventure with class 3 n 4 rapids this time. it starts with a train ride on an antique train then welcome fruits and drinks before the safety briefing and a very very very good lunch buffet of grilled lamb and more!!
the riverguides of riverbug are really trained for things and you can see the coordination from arrival at the train station to the people getting on board. even the safety briefing was very done in a way that people will really pay attention. and the rescue kayaks were unbelievable. can you imagine being a tiny speck in that washing machine of water!!
