tropical fruit ice-lolly
by Hui-Hui
Please try famous local tropical fruit ice-lolly! There are various flavors like durian, taro, jackfruit, adzuki beans, mango, avocado and so on. They keep the original flavor of the fruits with coconut milk and are very tasty! When I was in Sabah, I had ice-lolly every day. In big super market it cost only 1 RM but its common price was 1.5 RM in convenience store and resort area. The most expensive one I got was in Sutera Harbour Resort--2,6 RM!! My favorite flavors were durian and jackfruit. P.S. We have ice-lolly of taro, jackfruit, adzuki beans, mango and avocado in Taiwan so I prefer extraordinary flavors in Sabah.
BYO toilet paper
by pepemorris11
Thin cotton T-shirts, cotton shorts or bermudas. A hat or cap to beat the heat. An umbrella as it rains almost every evening for a few hours. It can get pretty cold up in the mountain or in the Kundasang Ranau area in the early morning and late evening so a thin jacket will come in handy. Toilet paper. I normally carry one roll in my backpack just in case, it runs out at toilets in shopping centres. Toilets at toilet stops and coffee shops do not normally have toilet paper. Better still, bring along a hand sanitizer. Insect repellent is a must. Sun blocks! Diving or snorkelling gear for those who wish to visit the islands.

Pulau Manukan

Pulau Manukan is part of the Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) Marine Park in Kota Kinabalu... It is the place where locals come to get away from the bustling city by simply relaxing on the beach... Visitors can also go island hopping, jetskiing, kayaking, ride a glass bottom boat and banana boat, parasailing, snorkelling, diving, bird watching and trekking to sunset point... The sea is crystal clear and the emerald green water is full of all kinds of fishes, inlcuding white promfret and clolourful coral fishes, swimming around the boat as you arrive at the long jetty... Fringed by casaurina trees, the hills at the back of the beach is also alive with bees, birds and monkeys... There is also a resort on the island in Manukan Island Resort...
The is also a Marine Research Centre on the island... The centre provides visual education on marine life as well as conservation work done in the TAR Marine Park... Exhibits at the centre includes the giant head bone of an 8m long Byrde Whale that beach on nearby Pulau Gaya some years back, as well as the shell of a giant clam, skeletons of a dugong and dolphin, seagrass and seaweeds...
Pulau Manukan is only 20mins by sea from Kota Kinabalu... Boats leave for the island from Sutera Harbour Jetty, Tanjung Aru Marina (at Tanjung Aru Resort) and Jesselton Point (near the Sabah Port Authority)... The fare to/from the island is RM40 return... There is a RM3 charge for staying on the island...
Best price and quality for t shirts
by stevemt about Kadaiku
This shop is accredited by the Sabah Tourism Board. The quality and price here were the best I saw in KK. They also have other souviner items, sarongs, chocolates etc. T shirts Less than some other souviner shops for better quality.
