Kota Kinabalu's best island resort

Gayana Eco Resort is located on Gaya Island about 30 minutes by boat ride from Kota Kinabalu.

I had stayed here a couple of times and looking forward to my next stay!!

Unique Quality: a tropical paradise just a stone away from Kota Kinabalu

Inside the bungalow

The inside of the bungalows were quite roomy.
The main room had a couch and chair, writing desk, and TV on one end , also a sliding glass door that went out to the patio over the water.
There was a queen size bed at the other endand the door leading to the walkway.
There was a dressing area off of that room with a large closet, counter with fresh water and coffee supplies.
The bathroom was long and narrow with a nice sink and counter top on one end and a large walk in shower on the other end below double windows.

Unique Quality: The mattress was very comfortable. There was an air conditioning unit in each bungalow plus ceiling fans..

Over the water bungalows

From Kota Kinabalu, it is a 1 1/2 to 2 hr ferry ride out to Gayana Eco Resort.
On the way out the water was a beautiful blue color and so clear that you could almost see the bottom.
We could see the buildings and mountain range in the background but nothing but water ahead.
Finally in a distance we could make out some small buildings with thatched roofs.
We are getting close, and finally we arrived.
Sitting out over the water on stilts were thatched roofed bungalows , restaurant, office/gift shop and a natural pool, not on stilts.

Unique Quality: The food was very good. Buffet breakfast was included in the price of the cottage.

Over the water bungalows

by kyoub about Gayana Eco Resort

Sitting out over the water on stilts were thatched roofed bungalows , a restaurant, & office/gift shop .This resort was a short ferry ride from the pier in Kota Kinabalu. There was a natural pool that was like swinning in the ocean but a screen kept the large fish out.
I loved looking over the balcony and seeing the fish swimming by. The water was so clear you could see the bottom, there were spiny sea urchins there. We also saw a monitor lizard taking his morning swim.

From KK Airport to Gayana Eco Resort

by jho41

What's the typical taxi fare to get from the KK airport to the jesselton harbour?

Do i have negoitate the taxi fare beforehand?

In the jesselton harbour are is a jetty marked for the gayana eco resort and you just pay a fee to get on the jetty? how much would it be?

To Jesselton Harbour from KK Airport, you dont have to negotiate the fare beforehand. Just go to the taxi counter at the airport to pay for the coupon.

It's around RM20 for your journey. The rate from KK-LCCT (Terminal 2) and KKIA are the same.

Hi,

Currently the taxi fare from Airport to Jesselton Point has been increased to RM30 per way. Nope, you'll just need to purchase the taxi coupon at the ticket counter upon arrival, the price is standard.

Will you be staying in gayana Eco Resort? If yes, then you do not need to pay the Jetty Fee, the resort has included this in their package. If not, you'll need to purchase a package (Day Trip/Stay) with gayana eco resort as they only accept their own guests into their resort.

Have fun
