Interesting decoration

Hamin Lodge is interestingly decorated. Furniture in the room is made of bamboo and local wood. It has a special feel to it. There are paintings of local scenes at the common area. Very nice place.

However, the room size is small compared to another place we stayed. Not worth the money. Room doesn't come with breakfast. Water pressure is low when we took shower.

More importantly, the walls in between the rooms are not sound insulated. During our stay, our neighbour was talking loudly at 2am. It was noisy and we couldn't sleep. We complained to the receptionist and he told the neighbour that we complained. Our neighbour then came and yelled at us! What a bad experience!

Unique Quality: Very well decorated!

Thin partition wall, hope your neighbour is not loud.

KK's most character filled guesthouse

I've stayed with Hamin Lodge on two separate occassions and will return many more times! The owner, George, was very informative about the goings ons in KK...including tips on the best new restaurants in town. George is an architect by trade as was evident by the layout of his new establishment. The decor is tastefully done in bamboo furniture, rattan, and local crafts...a nice change compared to the average gaudy and kitschy guesthouses in KK. There is a spa adjoining the lodge (same owner) that offers very fair priced massages, manicures, etc. Good yet cheap massages are a rarity in KK, so take advantage of this amenity! Laundry facilities are on site, too. The lodge's outdoor sitting area overlooks the Sedco Seafood Emporium which features free live cultural shows almost every night of the week. If you don't want to eat seafood dinner, you can still watch the cultural shows from the lodge. The sidestreet location makes it quiet, yet it's close to the action. The cinema is only 1 block away. Centerpoint Mall and Warison Square are 2 blks away. I didn't stay in a dorm room, but looked at them. They've got to be some of the nicest dorms in KK. Most importantly: the staff was courteous & friendly and the rooms were clean & comfortable.

Unique Quality: Tasteful and comfortable decor. Kind and helpful staff.
