nice accommodation

Its advantage!? Very good location. Malls are just around the corner, actually the ground floor is a shopping complex, walking distance from main attractions (city center). We love the bread shop on the ground floor the breads and pastries are delicious, in fact it's our favorite for breakfast. Very nice and accommodating staff too.

No Frills but with Class Accommodation

This is a no frills hotel, there's no gym, sauna or swimming pool.

The plus point is that it's strategically located - just above shopping mall Warisan Square and right smack in the city centre, just opposite the waterfront.

The room is not so spacious.. lack of space to move your luggage around if you have big ones.

However I do like the fact that their twin beds can easily be joined together, there's no coffee table or small table in between the beds. With 2 beds joined, you can easily sleep 3 persons comfortably.

The side table is very unique too, it drops out from the wall, so if you don't need it, you just fold it back into the wall. It's quite small, can probably just fit your TV remote & Air Con remote.

Ah.. the room boast a Samsung >20 inch LCD TV and a spa shower.

Unique Quality: their staff is very efficient, the room i stayed doesn't have a hair dryer, i called up housekeeping and they brought one for me in less than 5 min.
The next day, i moved to deluxe room with sea view but i have problem flushing the toilet, I called up maintenance, and they were here the next minute to fix the problem, this happened twice but both times they were quick. I left a note with the hotel to fix the toilet for good and not let guest call for maintenace every half a day.
i didn't expect to receive an e-mail from them a few days later, apologizing for the discomfort and that corrective measures have been taken.

10 day trip to Malaysia

by anwen_morris

I have booked to come to Malaysia for the 1st 10 days of October. I am flying to Kuala Lumpur and am thinking of getting an internal flight immediately to Kota Kinabalu, then flying back to spend the last 2 days in KL.

I would like advice on where to stay in the Kota Kinabalu region, I have seen some nice hotels on coast e.g. Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort but it seems isolated from everything else. I would like to be near other places to go out to eat etc. Any suggestions would be welcome please.....

Thanks, Anwen

A number of activities that we did, starting in KK

1. Did some scuba diving locally (not the greatest, but we had fun).

2. Head out to Sandakan - see the Oranguatan at Sepilok.

3. Do a "homestay" in a longhouse in Kudat - and visit a real one while you are there.

4. To an Ecotour for a few days - I have no reservations in recommending Borneo Eco Tour's facility at Sukau - also out of Sandakan.

I have videos of some of these places on my homepage.

Stay at the heart of Kota Kinabalu City. You can choose from Kinabalu Daya (Managed by Best Western), Promenade, Le Meridian, Hyatt, Imperial International Hotel or Imperial Boutec Hotel (both Imperial located at Warisan Square, well known shopping complex) or stay at Sutera Harbour for a really exclusive treat.

All the place mention above located within Kota Kinabalu City Center except Sutera Harbour (less than one kilometers from city center). In Kota Kinabalu city center, you can walk from one end to the other end, because it's about 2.2 Kilometers only.
