Friendly, central hotel

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on July 27, 2012

The Best Western Kinabalu Daya Hotel in Kota Kinabalu is a clean, comfortable moderately priced hotel. Reception staff are fantastic. It is located in the heart of Kota Kinabalu - easy walking distance to markets, restaurants and malls. Rooms are simpy furnished but clean and well lit with good bathrooms. Breakfast is good, but it can be busy in the breakfast room when the hotel is full. The hotel offers both smoking and non-smoking floors. Highly recommended for those on a budget who would like a comfortable sleep after spending time climbing Mt Kinabalu or spending time exploring the jungle.

Unique Quality: Just a block away from the beachside promenade, just a block away from Gaya Street market, and with two huge malls just across the street, the Best Western Kinabalu Daya Hotel could not be better located.
Couple with the terrifically friendly reception staff who are more than willing to help out with any questions, this is a very good moderately priced hotel.

Clean & Comfortable, Value for Money

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)

I stayed in this hotel for a night, just to enjoy a little of KK town. I would definitely recommend this hotel for those who'd like a clean and comfortable stay, without hurting the pockets too much. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. Air Conditioning works well and price is reasonable.
Whilst I stayed last year they were actually upgrading the hotel and today as I check online, the newly upgraded rooms are really pretty nice for the price.
Also, the hotel is located pretty centrally in town. We actually walked to the market downtown as well as all the way to the Warisan Square, the newest mall in KK.
Only thing was when I was staying, renovations were ongoing so only one lift could be used, so it was kind of a hassle when we needed to go in and out of the hotel. It shouldn't be that way now, so yeah I'd definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

Unique Quality: Has all the necessary facilities, clean and comfy as well as centrally located.

Directions: Opposite Wisma Merdeka

Nice Hotel in KK

3 star hotel. Clean rooms, except for the hotel corridor. Staff is friendly, in fact, he was able to refer us a friend (who owns a taxi cab) and gave us a tour for a whole day.

Love their breakfast. Got to taste some of the Malaysian food. They have brewed coffee, but some of the English guests don't believe so. hahaha

A good hotel in Kota

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)

A nice little hotel right in the center of Kota, good room, and bathroom. Rather modest american breakfast, snooker bar on the first floor and later in the evening a karaoke bar.
Roomprice is not expensive; 85 RM.

Unique Quality: Very close to the center of Kota, the costline, ferries etc.

Directions: Easy to find directly on Jalan Pantai

Got to this hotel through LP, very nice room with wooden floor, as described on LP. Bed is nice, so is the bathroom. The staff are helpful and friendly. Try to ask for a room with the view of the ocean.

Unique Quality: Very central, close to bus terminal, very convenient.

the Hotel worth its price

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)

The hotel worth its price. The price was 85 RM for the double room. The room # 1006 was small. The breakfast was bad. I ate only toasts with jam and butter. The fruits were only watermelon and papaya. Staff was not friendly and pleasant. Every morning we tried to descent by lift but it always was occupied by staff with dirty linean, trays.
If staff, breakfast quality don't matter for you, this hotel is a good cheap choice for you. The hotel is centrally situeted and within walking distance to the islands ferry, fruit market, seafood restaurants. It also has internet at reception for a reasonable price of 1 RM per 10 min.

Directions: near WISMA MERDEKA and Hyatt
