Very Strategic

I have stayed here once... it is among the newest hotel here. Service is excellence, room is cozy, food is good..and if you stayed here, please request for the ocean view... you can see the blue beautiful ocean from your window and the sun set...amazing...

What I like about this hotel is the strategic location infront of the Filipino Market where you can buy local souvenirs and crafts. If you are full handed...just walk across the street , sent your shopping goods to your room and continue shop till you drop....

Great location by the coast

We were very happy with the Le Meridien. The staff was friendly and very accomodating, the location couldn't have been more perfect and the buffet breakfast was wonderful!

Best Hotel in the City

Typical 5 star businesspersons hotel. Centrally located within walking distance to many places.

I'd recommend this to someone doing business or someone who wants a hotel which is walking distance to restaurants. Typicall breakfast buffet. Room is nice but impersonal. Everything works but you could be anywhere else in the world. Up to two kids free but no breakfast (kids 50% off).

If you're on vacation though a good mix would be to stay at the shangrila tanjung aru or the sutera resorts, both of which are very near the city (less than 10 min taxi ride). You get the best of both worlds resort living and access to city restaurants and shops.

This place is best if you want to explore kk on foot and or arranging your tours at wisma sabah (the building where all the tour agencies are) before venturing out into the countryside.

Unique Quality: 3rd floor pool has a view.

Accross the road from the Filipino Craft market and the promenade where many restaurants are located. Also right beside the biggest mall in Sabah, Centerpoint.

Best of both worlds

This is your standard 4 star hotel. Offers every amenity you would expect from a 4 star.
Great service, clean and even has free high speed internet in the room.

Only down sides are:
The wall are very thin!! If you are a light sleeper and have kids next door this could be a problem.

If you have a water front view (which is very nice view of the China Sea) you will have to listen to the commercial aircraft fly by. Flights start early in the morning. (The runway approach is just over the water, in front of the hotel)

Unique Quality: What is unique, is the location. You are in a very nice 4 star, however you can walk out the door and with in 1 minute be very local! The market is just across the street, tons of shopping in less than a 3 minute walk, and lots of local food too.

All the things you want in a western style hotel, and all of the real culture just a few steps away.

For people who want to hit the little islands near by, or do other water sports... you can't say much closer to the water (and still be dry). ;-)

While I didn't use the pool, I did take a peek, and it looked very nice. Once a week they hold a pool side BBQ.

Best Location!!

Le Meridien has the best location in the city of KK! It provides view to the islands of TAR National Park. That means nice sunset! Opposite is the handicraft market (Filipino market), that will make your souvenir shopping easy. In the evening, you can enjoy seafood at the nearby seafood restuarant. Warisan Square is just diagonally accross the street. What more can you ask for?!

Unique Quality: Location! Location! Location!

More about Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu's finest hotel

by TripAdvisor Member DanNewcombe

I have just had a five night vacation stay at Le Meridien KK and had a fantastic time.

The location of this hotel is easily the best in town, it is opposite the waterfront area and the best shopping centers.

The rooms are very large and well equipped, and service is defiantly 5*.

The hotel pool is a lovely oasis from the bustle of the city with views over the islands. It is quite small, but more than adequate for relaxing after a stressful day.

I had a sea view room and the views where breathtaking, well worth the extra few dollars.

Breakfast is excellent with a full range to suit all tastes, and it included in the rate. Also the evening food is very good.

There is a good tour company in reception. We used them for a trip to Mount Kinabalu which was very enjoyable and competitively priced.

Having looked around the other main hotels in town, I can say this is the newest, nicest looking, and has the best location.

Most people who stay in the out-of-town resorts end up taxiing in every night for food and shops, therefore it is far easier just to stay here next to the action. Only stay in an out-of-town resort if you plan to spend many days lounging around the pool.

Lastly, this hotel is available at some great rates. I paid half the price of the Shangri-La and breakfast was included!

Nice new hotel, central location

Very modern and stylish hotel in the center of KK. Very nice and modern rooms, fairly large. There is a nice waterfront area nearby for dinner. The pool area is well maintained, very clean, beautiful views.

There was a problem with our reservation, apparently they could not find our reservation even though we had a reservation code. It took them a while to solve the problem. But, I must say, we were treated with utmost dignity, and the problem was resolved to our entire satisfaction. They have the right attitude towards clients!

Breakfast was excellent, very nice selection of foods. I loved the fresh waffles that they prepare. Overall, a very nice place, highly recommendable.

Radius International

by jt10s

Hi all! Planning on a 6 day trip to KK in late June. Researching the web, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of mid-price hotels ~ USD 40. Either it's twice that, or budget backpacker digs. Has anyone been to Radius International? Reviews of this hotel are sparse. Any other recommendations for the $40-50 range? Thanks!

Hi Roger:

Thanks for the reply. So, are you saying that you don't recommend Radius? According to their website, a standard room is about USD 46. I'm happy with that, if it's a decent enough hotel. Just want somewhere clean, clean, clean and centrally located. Thanks!

Re: Radius International

Hi Roger:

These are the quotes I have so far. Please tell me what you think:

Radius International: MYR 155 nett (standard room, no breakfast)
Shangri-La Hotel: MYR 190 nett (inc. breakfast)
Promenade: MYR 140++ (not inc. breakfast)

The reviews for Shangri-La are good - location and clean. Have you heard anything about that hotel? Thanks!

Oh Oh..Its Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu. A five stars hotel. And i believe the room rate cannot be as low as US40. The rate is over RM300.

Re: Radius International

Ok I know where it is now. Its a new hotel and its is new to me.

Re: Radius International

Radius Hotel is not a 5 star.. I think it is targeting to be around 3 or a 4 star the most. But since it is new, it is very recommended for you to stay there. The rooms are quite nice and the location is just fantastic!
