Best time to scale Mt KK
The best time to visit KK would be from Jan - May, when it's the dry season. Should it rain, you will not be allowed to hike up the mountain to watch the summit. That would definitely be a great disappointment.

Hi,
I would be going Mt KK for 4 days. Would require some recommendation for hotels, reasonably priced ones.
In addition, if I will not be climbing, what other activities could I consider during my time at Mt KK?
THanks!
Go to the Islands and snorkel, if can't snorkel, you can still enjoy the colourful fish. Headhunter's village, markets, museum. Click on my name above photo for what I saw at KK.
you mean Kota Kinabalu, not going up the Mount Kinabalu? In KK there are hotels and hostels. I stayed at Rainforest lodge and it was good for a budget traveller like me. Other activities that you can do in KK if your not for climbing are island hopping (snorkling, swim, parasailing or just beach bumming), go around the city, there is a street market during weekends and also you can just go to kinabalu park and poring hotsprings
I'd just settle for island hopping and catching the clear waters. There you can also indulged in hiking or trailing.
Assuming ur going up to kinabalu park there is the poring hot springs about 40km from there.
Hi,
Near Mount Kinabalu you can visit Kinabalu Headquarters Park (which has a botanical garden),Poring Hot Springs, Sabah Tea Plantation and Kundasang WW2 Memorial.
If you stay in Kota Kinabalu for a few days you can go snorkeling, island hopping or diving in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, visit the Sunday Market on Gaya Street, visit the Wetlands Park, go shopping, visit Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, Monsopiad Village. There's a lot to choose from. It just depends what you like doing.
Enjoy your trip!

The mountain Kinabalu is treated as sacred and resting place of their ancestors. Pay full respect to the mountain by avoiding make noice while you are climbing. Do not take anything from the mountain, including the stones.
Padas River is a Grade III-IV area.
Situated on the southern part of Sabah, this river is one of the best water rafting area in the region. ( Another one is in Bali )
The interesting part about Padas Rafting is the trip there...It takes around 3 hours to reach the Panggi Station, whereby 1 1/2 hrs will be by bus and the remaining hours will be spent in an antique steam train!

One of the most enduring landmarks in KK which has stood prominently on the bluff along Signal Hill Road. Built as a memorial to Francis George Atkinson (the first District Officer of KK). It has the distinction of being the oldest standing structure in the whole Sabah that suvived the air raids and blitz of WWII. The Clock Tower was gazetted as a heritage building in 1983. Till today, it still serves to keep the city's time.
No admission fee is required. Very near to Signal Hill Observatory.
Fruit Market in KK sells fresh local fruits and also local tit-bits like kuih Cincin and keropok Emplang. Price is so reasonable and they are tasty too! Local Tit-Bits, Coconut Juice, Buah Salak (snake skin fruit) From RM2 onwards for tit-bits.
