Luxurious & well-appointed room, bathroom and a large balcony. The gardens are mature and lush, and from the 3rd Floor onwards you'll have sweeping views of the sea and nearby islands.

The swimming pools were perfect for a midnight swim, warm even at 2 am...and towels are still available!

In the evenings and at sunset, the mood is unbearably romantic. Stroll along the marina with your loved one, and stop for a lingering drink at the Sunset Bar.

At the charming & intimate Italian restaurant, Peppino's, choose a table outside on the balcony, in order to enjoy the balmy tropical nights. The food and house wine are good value, and service is polite and pleasantly unobtrusive.

If you are not in love already, you will be!

A fantastic resort hotel with full amenities, and the best thing is that it is only a short taxi ride from KK town (RM10-12 per taxi ride).

The other option is to take a short 15 minute stroll along the public beach and you will find some food stalls. Why not sample a variety of local fare (satay, noodles, local drinks) late into the night.

When we stayed, the price was around RM250-280+++ (twin share) per room. Sorry, I am not sure if this is available to foreigners. It is certainly well-worth paying extra to stay here, rather than at the hotels in KK town. I absolutely loved this hotel!

  • We stayed 3 weeks at the Tanjung Aru. Our overall impression is very high. Beautiful hotel, magnificent pool area. Nice rooms with a beautiful view. I turned ill twice and I got lots of attention. We needed medical service wich arrived 20 minuts after we asked for it. Very nice staff. Lots of activities. Nice personal service at the restaurants and from the maids.

There are many good things to say about this hotel. Too many to name them. We will go back next christmas again to stay for another three weeks. Our son misses the great poolarea the lovely staff and all the great things about this paradise called Tangjung Aru. We are so greatful for this lovely experience.

Beautiful surroundings, many photo opportunities for you and the children.
Sweeping views of the sea and nearby islands.

The rooms are well appointed & newly refurbished. You can request for an extra bed for the kids at a small charge or they might enjoy sleeping on the well-carpeted floor using the existing bedding.

The kids (and you!) will enjoy the big bathtub and nice range of shampoos & conditioners & bath foams (Lavender...yummy)

    Just for Mums:
You can relax at the gardens or by the poolside with a drink at hand or under the shade, with a good book while the kids enjoy themselves at the playground (Starfish area) or at the Kids Club. There are ample deck-chairs on the beach and also on the lawn.
You can also have a soothing massage or warm spa at the fitness centre.

Shopping Tips: The hotel gift shop is pleasant and prices were actually quite reasonable (even the jewelery and clothings were not too expensive - RM200/US$50 for a string of salt-water pearls). There is also a very upscale Jim Thomson Silk boutique at the hotel, and a travel agent too.

There is a nice fish-pond with golden, red and silver Japanese Koi (carp) and the kids will enjoy gazing at the fish.

The marina has a chain railing and pathway that is child friendly, so you will not have to worry about your little ones accidentally falling into the sea.

Great views from the higher floors. The hotel is close to everything and also near the airports.

Price stated below is on a per person basis for Malaysian residents (twin-share) and came with breakfast for two people (Breakfast is quite expensive if you pay for it on an ala carte basis). Nevertheless, I felt that it was worth every penny!

If you prefer not to eat at the hotel, you can take a slow 15 minute walk along the public beach to the nearby hawker centre (opens till midnight). There is a good range of fast food and local hawker fare. Perfect for you and your kids!

Or if you have more time, visit SEDCO for some fresh seafood (RM12 by taxi into town, just mention SEDCO and the taxi will know the place.)

  • This was our first trio to Sabah and we couldn't havew asked for a better time . We arrived back home yesterday and all we want to do is go back. The services at the hotel were amazing they have the Tours place their that organise all yours tours for you and the staff are just amazing they wetre always so friendly to us everytime you walked past them thye were always willing to greet you with a good morning or afternoon and a smile. These sort of things i know brightened our trip. The pool facilities were great and it caterred for all age groups. They had many great activities running from early in the morning to latein the afternoon and these also catered for all age groups. There were many restaurants to choose from that gave you 100% service. One place there that we found fantastic and relali made our holiday was beach bums the watersports place. They were brilliant and were a real funny bunch of people. They were supportive to be able to get you out their to give everything a try and you knew that you were in safe hands. I was worried to do some of the things but with these people i was more than excited to do everything and im so glad i did because i LOVED it. I recommend using Beach bums to do your water sports and the ferrys to get you to the other islands.

    Janelle

The views looked out oneside to the more greeny and hilly side ofhte Kota Kinabalu and the other side of the hotel had views of the water that looked over to the island that were only 10 minutes away .

  • Staying in this hotel is like coming home for me. I felt very comfortable the first time I stayed and more so on the second occasion.
Set in many acres of landscaped garden the hotel has two wings with all the main services and amenities in the centre. Check in is fast and painless with very competent, well trained staff. We were soon off to our room and while we were wondering at every luxury provided our baggage was being brought in.
We upgraded our room to a suite and it was well worth the extra few pounds to do so. Our balcony had a wonderful view out over the islands of the Marine National Park.
Food & Drinks tend to be a little pricey but the breakfast buffet was simply superb as were all the meals we sampled.
Swimming pool is simply huge and there are plenty of loungers and towels.
There is a regular coach service into town from the hotel.

The staff are extremely friendly and sincerely want to make your stay a memorable one. Nothing is too much trouble and the hotel has a no tippping policy.
Very highly recommended for a very relaxing break.

This hotel is simply fantastic ! The whole hotel is fantastic with rooms of very nice views. It is located next to the sea and close to the famous Tunku Abdul Rahman Island. It is located off the city & near to the airport. The setting makes one really feel like on a holiday !

Located at the Tanjung Aru suburb near to the airport at Kota Kinabalu, state capital of Sabah in Eastern Malaysia.

The service at this Hotel was first Class, We stay in the Tanjung Wing and upgraded to the Horizon Club which I would recommend it was worth the extra money.
The rooms were spacious and the bathroom was beautiful, bedlinen was changed everyday
plenty of sunbeds round the pool.

Views over the South China sea to the neighbouring Islands were beautiful.

  • Luxury from the moment you arrive. Baggage whisked away and check in formalities are conducted by an extremely helpful and efficient staff. Upgrade your room if you can. We got a suite for about £15 extra per night and it was well worth it. Everywhere you go in this hotel the staff are smiling and wanting to help you to have a good stay.
    .

The hotel has extensive grounds to stroll in and plenty of restaurants to eat in. Food is of top quality everywhere. Enjoy a drink at sunset on the headland and watch the sun go down over the islands of the marine park.
Huge swimming pool with attendants. I enjoyed a wonderful leg and foot massage bvy the pool.

  • good 5 star hotel, 10 minutes from airport and city of KK , with its own jetty , access to islands for snorkelling easy. We stayed in Horizon club which means a dedicated 6th floor club with friendly , helpful staff and a dedicated purser. Breakfast is complimentary , choice plentiful, free soft drinks, tea /coffee available all day and between 6-7 pm cocktails and canapes.I found atmosphere in the club a bit too "clubby" and downright snobbish, but that was other guests and not the staff. This is probably me feeling shy or perhaps being too ordinary. Comfy beds, spotlessly clean rooms, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities in room ,toiletries freely supplied. Food expensive compared to outside, but good and still inexpensive compared to UK , both ate for approx £12, main meal . Drinks very expensive and I do not get why, bottles of water were a fraction of the price outside and the amount they buy in even if they were double the outside price they could make a fantastic profit but this was plain greedy and the price of beer was extortionate compared to outside . £3.50 a can , we could both eat out for about £2 !!! Some people will argue it's a moslem country and alcohol is expensive" but it is not expensive out of the hotel so I dont get it,not an issue for us but just a mystery. The hotel is roomy ,staff attentive, grounds not large however and our biggest complaint was that it is not a peaceful place, they do helicopter rides right beside pool area and with airport only 10 minutes away silence impossible. This is also a hotel that hosts many conferences leading to a very busy environment- one morning guests were woken up before 7.15 am by dozens of convention members singing and loud speakers in grounds right outside our rooms. This was providing you had managed to sleep through furniture being dragged round in readiness for the presentations in the gardens. Please do not think however that I would not return, I would tomorrow.

Access to islands, access to KK and airport etc. Horizon facilites great with friendly efficient staff. Rooms lovely and everything you needed them to be.Extra services like free daily newspaper delivered to your room and fresh fruit in room daily were lovely and we celebrated our anniversary and birthdays whilst there and we were given sarongs, lovely cakes and the most fantastic bouquet of orchids. rooms were great , staff efficient and friendly and views of island wonderful. Plus it is very conveniantly situated for travelling to KK and airport plus other destinations not least of which are the islands for snorkelling etc.

  • As I used to live in a bungalow on Tanjung Aru beach it was appropriate to stay in this wonderful hotel that did not exist when I lived there. My stay was fabulous, the location idyllic, the staff very helpful and friendly and excellent value for money. A honeymoon paradise.
Not my fault I had to later divorce my husband!

Lovely bedroom with sea view and balcony, fully airconditioned. The pool areas are also excellent, ideal for serious swimmers or just a gentle paddle
