Eating out
by ntm2322
Whenever you visit Kota Kinabalu or elsewhere in the world, at the time you want to satisfy your tummy don't go to those American or western franchises or simply stay confined to the restaurant of your hotel. Go out, be brave and eat what local people eat. Go to local restaurants by yourself. I really miss the rotis I used to eat at breakfast with the delicious milk coffee they serve (all my friends know that at home I never drink coffee).
What to take
by stevemt
Cotton shorts - NOT denim. Denim will absorb water when you sweat (as you surely will here) and will not dry easily. While wet, it rubs and chafes - not a pleasant feeling in a hot humid climate.
A hat
An Umbrella (folding) Sunscreen
Insect repellant (with deet) if you are going to be going inland is a good idea Bring your own snorkling gear if you have it, the rental ones are not good

Likas Bay
by yipsufen
Likas is a bay dotted with casuarina trees. Sometime you can see fishing boats & people fishing & picnic leisurely from the roadside. This is the nearest beach from KK town. A good place to unwind or just to relax freely.
Souvenirs of the Orang Utan
by yipsufen
Sabah or Malaysian Borneo is the sanctuary for Orang Utans. Of course here you can find a variety of souvenirs on Orang Utan. Some of the popular shops are Borneo Craft, Borneo Treasures, Kadaiku, Sabah Handicraft Centre, The Borneo Trading Post, etc. Be sure to pick up one of their signature, endangered species -- Orang Utan.
