Backpacker's Paradise

Upon arriving at the airport, I was warmly welcomed by taxi driver Mr. Martin, who was send to pick us up. The airport pick up was indeed a value added service. Email the lodge if you require it.

Reaching there, it was a pretty tiring climb to the 3rd floor (in Singapore it would be the 4th floor). The stairway is dark and filthy with cobwebs. We had a terrible impression of the place.

However, after entering The Beach Lodge, we were plesently surprised at the cleanliness of the place. The rooms are very neat and the people very friendly. We also met fellow Singaporeans at the breakfast table. A very homely feeling indeed.

Unique Quality: Airport pick up, clean, friendly

KK hotels

This is a backpacker hostel, the facility is based on a resident house separated into 6 small rooms. Clean, air-coned, with instant coffee, teabag and water available 24hrs for free. The location is good, close to the new night life spot, beach road. Price is cheap, costing me 20RM per night. They have internet service with 2RM per hr charge but I haven't tried that. The roof is leaking at the kitchen side when it's raining.

Unique Quality: You can store some of your luggage for free when you go to climb the mt kinabalu.
