Sipadan Water Village: Chalets on stilts!

SWV have a fully equipped dive centre offering diving facilities and dive courses. For dining and entertainment, there is a superb restaurant, lounge and minimart for soverniers.

The resort has water cottages (twin and double beds) built on wooden stilts over the Celebes Sea. Each has a private sundeck and deck chairs. All the cottages are installed with ceiling fans, attached bathrooms with hot and cold showers and tea/coffee making facilities.

SMART - Sipadan Mabul Resort: luxurious but also basic accommodation

This resort is designed for divers - you'll get a package of accommodation, all meals/drinks (non-alcoholic), up to 3 dives a day. But I think you can also book it as a non-diver (with a certain discount on the price). However, there's not much to do if you're not diving.

In between dives, it's great to relax around the pool, have a massage or sit in the jacuzzi.

Every day, it is defined if dives are done around Sipadan or Mabul/Kapalai. When diving Sipadan, you stay there for lunch and come back in the afternoon. When diving the fantastic muck places around Mabul and Kapalai, you normally return after every dive.

However, this might have changed since 1999.
