Pom Pom Island Resort: An Island Paradise

After a journey of just over three hours from busy Kota Kinabalu we arrived at this beautiful island. The accommodation is in large luxurious villas, most of them lining the shore, with a few on stilts over the water and in the gardens. The main building is the centre for the resort, with a restaurant area, bar, dive informaton desk and small shop. It is a wonderful large wooden structure, with fans keeping it cool even at midday. It was a great place to relax over the tasty meals provided.
Our favourite walk was along the long jetty, which leads out over the seagrass beds. It is floodlit at night and we saw turtles every day during our stay in February, as well as many other fish. For those wanting a closer view of the marine life the PADI dive centre is well equipped, with British and Italian instructors. The area is renowned for macro species, found off Pom Pom and some of the other nearby islands which are visited on dive and snorkelling trips
All the staff were very helpful and efficient, we arrived as guests and reluctantly left this paradise as friends!

Unique Quality: A relaxing peaceful island with white sandy beaches, palm trees and clear blue seas, with excellent accommodation and facilities as well!

Sipadan Water Village: Water way of life

During my first trip to Sipadan, accommodations were confined to Sipadan island (now you can't stay there anymore) and Mabul island. There were 2 resorts in Mabul, one beach resort and Sipadan Water Village which consists of water bungalows. At that time Kapalai was not even developed (neither were digital cameras)!

It's a resort beautifully constructed with Bajau architectural design. Part of the Mabul Island is also home to groups of Bajau fishermen who have built their traditional palm thatched houses. The Bajau Laut, the world's only tribe of nomadic sea gypsies spends their lives on the water.

(Excerpt and photos taken from websites)

For divers, expect to pay US$295 per person for full board, diving and transfers (3D/2N). All arrangements should be made during booking.

Unique Quality: - Water bungalows with huge sundecks that open out to the sea
- Best food in Sipadan, Mabul and Kapalai
- Wonderful snorkelling just below all the water bungalows. You can just jump right in.

Lees guesthouse: A little touch of luxury in Semporna

Lees is a welcome stop at a good price if you are thinking of staying in Semporna while diving at Sipadan. It is cheaper than the resorts at Mabul but with the change in Law limited divers to 100 per day, check that the Mabul operations don't get preference or it may be a false economy to stay on the mainland.

Unique Quality: Very clean,
Air con,
Private bath
Satelite tv and
very friendly staff.

Sipadan Dive Lodge: Average Lodge in Sipadan

Sipadan Lodge is less expensive than the other lodges on the island, and you get what you pay for. This lodge is located on the far side of the island, which means beach diving at the Drop-Off isn't an easy option. The rooms are a decent size but very basic, with thin mattresses, thin pillows and hand-held salt-water showers. There are no towel/linen changes, so bring extra towels. Meals are included and buffet-style. The food is average. Although the diving is fantastic, the lodge's dive center is lacking. Equipment isn't well maintained, and we were disappointed by the lack of information offered by the dive masters. We were never fully briefed on a dive.

I would recommend this lodge to experienced divers on a budget.

Pulau Sipadan Resort: Pulau Sipadan Resort & Tours

The room is an individual hut with washroom and fan. The water pressure is very low. So don't expect to have a shower as you stay at home. And the water is a little bit salty.

The meal at the restaurant is very good. And seldom repeat the meal . The chef is very good. Meal and snack is include duing the stay.

Unique Quality: It's local in the Sipadan Island. It's great location and easy acess to most dviing site and for shore dive.

Other diving resort need to come to my Island everyday. So we save at leave an hour on transportation everyday.

We can have unlimited dive at any time.
