Staying in The Nostalgic Past
Hotel Sandakan was the fanciest hotel in town, but that title has now gone to the Swiss Inn. However, the Sandakan still has the charm and nostalgic feel of the old hotel.
If I remember correctly, you will want to get a room with an even number. These rooms all have the ocean view. The odd rooms all have the backside view against the hill. However, I may have these reversed, so confirm upon check-in.
Unique Quality: The rooms are quite spacious and have fully functional A/C, television, etc. The rooms also have free WiFi and include breakfast.

A very comfortable amd professional 3* hotel right in the middle of town.
This is as high luxury as you can get in Sandakan town.
