A good hotel

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights for work. It is a 4-star hotel with nice swimming pool. When I checked in to the hotel, the reception staffs were not very friendly with a blunted facial expression; however the staffs from the next shift were better and friendlier. The food was good. I had buffet lunch, dinner, and breakfast in the hotel. The room was good and spacious. I would recommend this hotel to others.

Unique Quality: the forest surrounding the hotel is soothing.

Sandakan's only 4-star hotel

This is the only 4-star hotel in Sandakan. There is a nice pool where we spent most of our time. As I have mentioned in my Intro page, more Europeans come here than locals, so if you need a deckchair by the pool, you will have to compete with the Germans, the Dutch, the English etc., who seem to be stuck to the deckchairs. They are there from sun-up till sundown, then you meet them in the hotel restaurant looking like lobsters.

I would recommend this hotel if you are coming this way, that's because there is no other hotel of this standard to recommend.

Sandakan's best hotel

Sabah Hotel is the best accommodation in Sandakan. It is a four-star hotel located close to the centre of town. There is a very nice swimming pool, a decent bar and a good gym. The food isn't the best - but a two minute cab ride will put you at the English Tea House, which is located on the above hill on Jalan Istana... it has the best view/atmosphere and food in town -- so don't miss it!

Unique Quality: great pool and gym.

Nice environment

Nice place, with good restaurant, swimming pool, etc. and... I think they have a disco there.

Unique Quality: All those hotels listed above provide shuttle to main attraction sites. Information about those hotels can be obtained when you arrived in airport.
