A good hotel

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on October 5, 2007

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights for work. It is a 4-star hotel with nice swimming pool. When I checked in to the hotel, the reception staffs were not very friendly with a blunted facial expression; however the staffs from the next shift were better and friendlier. The food was good. I had buffet lunch, dinner, and breakfast in the hotel. The room was good and spacious. I would recommend this hotel to others.

Unique Quality: the forest surrounding the hotel is soothing.

Sandakan's only 4-star hotel

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on August 21, 2006

This is the only 4-star hotel in Sandakan. There is a nice pool where we spent most of our time. As I have mentioned in my Intro page, more Europeans come here than locals, so if you need a deckchair by the pool, you will have to compete with the Germans, the Dutch, the English etc., who seem to be stuck to the deckchairs. They are there from sun-up till sundown, then you meet them in the hotel restaurant looking like lobsters.

I would recommend this hotel if you are coming this way, that's because there is no other hotel of this standard to recommend.

Sandakan's best hotel

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on December 1, 2005

Sabah Hotel is the best accommodation in Sandakan. It is a four-star hotel located close to the centre of town. There is a very nice swimming pool, a decent bar and a good gym. The food isn't the best - but a two minute cab ride will put you at the English Tea House, which is located on the above hill on Jalan Istana... it has the best view/atmosphere and food in town -- so don't miss it!

Unique Quality: great pool and gym.

Nice environment

Nice place, with good restaurant, swimming pool, etc. and... I think they have a disco there.

Unique Quality: All those hotels listed above provide shuttle to main attraction sites. Information about those hotels can be obtained when you arrived in airport.

Sandakan Best Hotel?

by written on May 14, 2003

Unique Quality: Situated on five hectares of lushly landscaped grounds and nestled against a back drop of pristine East Malaysian rainforest is Sandakan's premier first class hotel. Surrounded by an array of nature's most magnificent attractions, including natural rainforest, the Orang Utan Sanctuary, Selingan Turtle Island, Gomantong Caves and Sukau, where you can witness Borneo's famous Proboscis Monkeys.
Accommodation at the hotel includes 108 rooms with 15 suites. All rooms come equipped with Cable and Satellite television, all-news channel, minibar, complimentary in-room coffee and tea and hairdryer.

Dining at the hotel you can choose from two restaurants. The Ming Restaurant - Chinese restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner or the Plantation Cafe - Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner

The area is nice but the hotel is bad I have stay one week in Sabah hotel in the bed I found daily long black hair and small black insects my whole body was itched and yes is true the rooms are very dusty. The swimming pool and fitness room are good the food in the restaurant is less good .

Yes I have stay this week 7 September in Sabah hotel in the first impression it looks nice but if you stay there it will be day by day wurs the most of the staff members are mental average the rooms are not clean there is many dust in the rooms air cons blowing tons of dust into the rooms , your belongings are not save it the room staff members are stealing , if you go stay in Sabah hotel than lock your belongings good in your bags, or better don't bring your belongings to the hotel that will be more save if you don't want lost them.If there is any problem the management promise to fix it but in real the will fix nothing the got your payment already and the will not care about any thing about your complains, And be aware for theft in Sabah hotel.
