Had an enjoyable stay here. The Hotel is right on the riverfront. Request a room with a river view, I did. There is lots happening on the river. Every evening, dragon boat crews were practising for an upcoming festival. Our room was large and nice. Breakfast was a buffet, very busy, with a good choice, hard to get a table sometimes. Service at this Hotel was good. There is a travel agency in the Hotel, this was cheap and good. Of the 3 tours booked with them, twice, we were the only people on the tour, and the other time, only had one other couple with us. Straight across the road from the Hotel, is the main shopping centre. Theme: HotelDirections: By the Cat Statue

 | Holiday Inn Kuching: The only TRULY riverside hotel

The Holiday Inn Kuching says it is the ONLY hotel in Kuching to be really riverside- and yes, the only thing that seperates the hotel from the riverside are the raillings- giving this hotel an unrivalled locality in Kuching. This is one of the oldest hotels in Kuching, even its newest wing is 19 years old. Its lobby is old and faded, and is in need of a major facelift- and the manual sliding doors seperating the lobby from the pool don't add much to the ambience of the lobby. There are some native crafts which are commendable in the lobby area, as well as the usual marbled floors and teak- what stands out is the service which is superb. 4 stars, awarded by Tourism Malaysia, proudly shine at the reception. In the old wing, the lift lobby is in need of refurbishment (2001) - the carpets are in need of change as they were already fading and peeling at ends. However, once you reach your room door- this hotel doesn't seem old at all. The rooms have been newly refurbished, and could easily match those of entry level 5 star hotels. Nicely furnished, with rattan furniture, these rooms exude a warm feeling of comfort and luxury. The bathroom is also commendable, white marble around, albeit on the small side (probably due to room category). Touch panel by the bedside means no more hanging "Do Not Disturb" signs on the doors, or "Please Clean My Room". As mentioned earlier, the hotel has a swimming pool, overlooking the river, gymnasium and sauna. An executive club floor is also available, with standard club facilities like a lounge, express check in and out and a private breakfast venue, as well as evening cocktails. There are 3 F&B choices in this hotel- The Serapi where breakfast is served daily, Meisan, a Chinese Restaurant and a basement bar, Tribes. All in all, this hotel offers good value for money, rooms and service of high standard,in addition to its prime location, although certain public areas are in need of upgrade.
The only hotel where you are right beside the river, nice rooms and great service.
