Kuchings best Hotel

IT IS NOW CALLED THE GRAND MARGHERITA HOTEL....
We had a very enjoyable stay here.
The Hotel is right on the riverfront, so make sure you request a room with a river view, I did, and was so glad, as there was lots happening on the river.
Every evening, dragon boat crews were practising for an upcoming festival.

Our room was large and nice.
Breakfast was a buffet, very busy, with a good choice, hard to get a table sometimes. Service at this Hotel was good.

There is a travel agency in the Hotel, this was cheap and good. Of the 3 tours booked with them, twice, we were the only people on the tour, and the other time, only had one other couple with us.

The location is excellent, just straight across the road from the Hotel, is the main shopping centre, only a very short walk to the riverfront walk, and it is located right on the riverfront.

Location, location, location!

The great location is only the beginning of thinks that make this a great place. They offer everything a business or tourist would want or need.

Clean, good service and reasonably priced doesn't hurt either.

For the person on vacation, the famous cat stature is just outside the front door. The river is right out the back door. Food, shopping and culture are all in easy walking distance.

While they charge for in room internet service, it was dependable and decent speed.

The gift shop lacks a bit, but has a nice little assortment of gifts, along with snacks, and anything you may have forgotten to pack.

The tour office is a one gal office, but she's good. Willing to book solo tours, or will try to find a group if you wish.

Unique Quality: The breakfast buffet is truly international, with something for everyone.
Room service is fast, with meals prepared correctly and served hot.
The riverside view is wonderful.

Cat Hotel

Unique Quality: A hotel that you will not miss because it is strategically located right in front of the cat statue at a roundabout. The interior or lobby is not very spacious but it exudes a warm local charm with wooden decor.

There's a link bridge connecting this hotel to Sarawak Plaza. Other shopping malls like Riverside Complex and Tun Jugah Mall are just a stone throw away. Fast food outlets like McDonald's and Pizza Hut are in the vicinity.

Ageing

We arrived on a building site, there upgrading the riverside which had a massive impact on the hotel, and worst of all the pool was closed. There was an upside because they upgraded us to a suite of rooms which was very nice. It was what you would expect of a Hilton although clearly not at the top end of that particular franchise. My only real grip were the reception staff who although efficient didn't exude and warmth at all. This is worthy of note becuase for the level of service I was used to in KK I was taken by suprise. Also they were in marked contrast to the concierge who couldn't do enough for me and always made the effort to remember my family name. Not bad for a malay given my scottish surname.

Unique Quality: It's central, there are plenty of places to eat and the concierge service is first rate.

Luxury Hotel by River Sarawak

The Holiday Inn Kuching Hotel is a riverfront hotel, located on the banks of River Sarawak, in the heart of Kuching business district. You can see the picturesque Sarawak River and the colourful Malay villages from this Hotel.

The Hotel has good local and western food served in the Serapi Restaurant, Meisan Szechuan Restaurant, and Orchid Garden Coffee House.

I have stayed in this Hotel during my visits to Kuching, and I find the place to be good. If you are visiting Kuching and staying in Holiday Inn Kuching, ask for the room with the river view.

Unique Quality: Hotel Holiday Inn Kuching has 305 furnished rooms, including suites and an Executive Club Floor. All rooms feature double or king size beds, individually controlled air conditioning, private bathrooms, hairdryer, minibar, tea/coffee making facilities, in-room data port, IDD telephone with voice message system and TV with satellite news and entertainment channels.

The Hotel has a swimming pool, fitness centre, sauna/steamroom, and entertainment lounges.

by the Sarawak River

The hotel is a typical Holiday Inn, very touristy, not really luxurious but not bad either. Very well to be used for a short stay of 2-4 days.
It offers relatively comfortable rooms, nice views to Sarawak River and the Fort, a gymn with sauna and an outdoor pool. The restaurant is rather basic, but offers good malay food!

Unique Quality: Nicely positioned by the river, relatively cheap

The Best Riverview in the City

This is my choice of hotel when I travel with kids. I will choose a room facing the Sarawak River. I just love to watch the river, the scene of boats passing by and the kids from the village accross flying kites... my sons love it here too. This hotel is very convenient for shopping too because the Sarawak Plaza is just next door and Tun Jugah Mall and Parkson are just across the road. As for food you can get KFC, McD, Pizza nearby and food court are at the Tun Jugah Mall.

Unique Quality: Such a great river view and great housekeeping!

Nice Hotel! Great Location.

I was there for 4 nights and it is a very nice hotel. The pool is fine and the location is great. Check prices on their internet for the best deals. My room was not ready at check-in time (11:30am), so they upgraded me to a riverview suite! Fantastic room, great staff...
