Nice ambience backpackers place
Opposite Borneo Hotel, this new guesthouse, which has 'home-away-from-home' ambience. The place is clean, Cozy, Comfortable and Safe. Friendly staff.
I visitied the lodge and sighted the rooms. Very nice ambience. But the price is above average among other backpackers shared facilities. But it has its reason for the premium. I like it. You can book through hostel world.
A single room costs RM60 (Apr 2009).

Nice Homestay in Kuching
A friend I had met in Mulu happened to be on the same flight as me from Miri to Kuching. Jon was going to stay at Lodge 121 and they were picking him up at the airport. I was going to stay at the Waterfront Lodge but ironically, I had selected Lodge 121 as my backup. Henry Lim is the owner of Lodge 121 and turned out to be the one picking up Jon. Henry said no problem for me to come along, the price would be the same for 1 or for 2 (Jon and I split the RM22), and he would drop me at the Waterfront Lodge after taking care of Jon. This shows you what a nice guy Henry is.
When we arrived at Lodge 121, I went inside to check it out and take a couple of pictures. It was dark and raining outside, so no pictures of the exterior. It looked clean and comfortable. I talked to Jon later and he said it was a very nice place to stay. Lodge 121 has private single, double, triple and quad sharing rooms (RM59 - 129). They also have a dormitory unit for a group of 10 persons (RM30 each). They offer free WiFi, internet and breakfast. There is complimentary coffee and tea 24/7. The location is not as good as the Waterfront Lodge (although it is closer to the Ting and Ting supermarket) but Lodge 121 is a really good option in Kuching.
