Run by a bunch of Ibans

Located in an area full of some rather grim hotels, just to the south of the Tua Pek Kong Temple, this place is far from grim. Instead, it's a fantastic and welcoming place that caters directly to budget travellers need and is run by a bunch of lively and entertaining Iban guys who know how to have a bit of fun. There's a largish communal area where you can watch TV, play computer games, watch DVD's, surf the internet on a wireless laptop and read books. There's a kitchen where you can just help yourself with drink and have breakfast which includes pancakes, toast and a large variety of jams, fresh fruit, juices etc. The rooms aren't all that big. I had a single room with a fan that just had a hard single bed, chair and bedside table. The walls are a little on the thin side and are no more than simple partitions. The communal toilets and showers were fine and modern with electric hot water showers. I paid RM50 which I thought was a little steep given the room facilities but it's well worth the price just to stay with these guys.
