Treehouse accomodation

Dofferent types of accomodation depending on your preferences, tree houses camping and cabins. Situated on the coast but still in the rainforest. Food and facilities slightly basic but a great experience and certainly worth at least one night when in Kuching.

Unique Quality: Lots of outdoor pursuits available, tree climbs, death slides, mountain walks and strolls through the rainforest. A great way to get away from it all, and experience the rainforest without giving up all life's little luxuries. 5 minute walk to the sarawak cultural village.

Permai Rainforest Resort

Stay at Treetops at the Permai Rainforest Resort(cost about RM$180/night). You will have a good view of the South China Sea. It's very quiet and peaceful. The staff is very friendly & helpful.

If you're on a budget, stay at the Longhouse(6 dorm beds @ RM$20 ea.) We stayed overnight on a Monday and had the room all to ourselves.

sarawak cultural history

Sarawak Cultural Village (14 Nov 04)

by GiantHippo

We woke up early today, and paid an early morning visit to Permai Camp at 0815, which is located just next to Holiday Inn Damai Lagoon. The entrance fee is RM5 per head. We had our morning walk at Permai Camp after having a simple breakfast there. We were really surprised to know Permai Camp and Holiday Inn Damai Lagoon shares the same beach! Thus, it is advisable to enter Permai Camp through the beach at Holiday Damai Lagoon, rather than paying RM5, which is really not worth it.

At 0945, we began our visit to Sarawak Cultural Village. A visit to Sarawak Cultural Village is a really good experience; the houses of Bidayuh, Iban, Melanau, Orang Ulu, Penan, Melayu and Chinese races are builds in the Cultural Village. There is also a 45 minutes cultural show (or I should say dances) at the theatre inside the Cultural Village. You really spend a full day at the Cultural Village.

Coincidently it is the first day of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Festival, so we had some food at the open-house invitation at the Malay House. We left the Cultural Village at 1700.

Rainforest Music Festival

by dhannis

The rainforest music festival is fantastic. Ethnic music from all over the world. Set on the edge of a rainforest with giant trees. We watched a flying squirrel glide over the stage.
Generaly the 2nd weekend in July, we book our flights with air asia immediately we know the date. 1 year in advance. Camp permai is a good place to stay but you can only book from 1st jan of the year in question. Holiday inn is also good if you get a family room - lots of people can stay and you can book a year in advance.

palace of golden horses to genting

by chivaas

i want to know the cheapest (BUT COMFORTABLE) way to get to genting highlands from the palace of the golden horses hotel.

Hi!

For cheap & comfortable journey frm Palace of Golden Horses (PGH) to Genting, I guess the best way is to go to Serdang Komuter station (abt 5 mins drive frm PGH) then take the Komuter train to KL Sentral. Frm KLS, you can take the Genting coach to Genting Highland.

If you are more there 1 person, I suggest you call a Genting Taxi and go genting directly because you might need to take a taxi to the station and change transport at Serdang and KL Sentral, and may be you carry some luaggage.

Here are some taxi service number
Permai genting transport & tours Sdn Bhd, Kuala Lumpur, 03- 40425623

Comfort corporation Sdn Bhd, Selangor, 03- 56330507
