i think the bus isn't hourly though. You can board the bus at "bandar" bus station. All routes have their initail and final stop there. I'll try to ask to confirm the exact time it leaves.

Travel Tips for Miri
The Flight of the Bats
by DanielF
The highligh of my trip to Mulu National Park was attending the daily ritual of millions of bats flying out of Deer Cave. We were taken to an observatory from where we could properly experience this spectacular natural phenomenon without disturbing the animals.
We had to wait impatiently for a few hours in fear that they decided they would not want to fly out on that particular day. Our guide explained us that, some days, they may decide to stay in, if the weather is very bad, or if the feel some kind of danger, for instance. It had been raining earlier int he afternoon and threatening clouds appeared in the horizon, but we all crossed our fingers in the hope that it would not rain any more.
Then, suddenly, a few bats woke up and came out of the cave. More and more bats started flying in circles at the entrance of the cave. Suddenly, they flew away forming an enless black ribbon that vanished in the sky.
Lambir Hill
by Lexpat
Just 15' drive from Miri is the Lambir hill national Park. Well, as its name indicates there is a hill and a nice walk to get there. The entire journey to the top and back took us about 8hrs, stopping by at a beautiful waterfall at the middle of the way and have a refreshing swim.
The hill is only 600m high but the path goes up and down through the forest till the final assent which is definitely the most spectacular part of the hike.
At the top, a fantastic view above the canopy.
Need to be reasonably fit, else try the other hike to Lambir Bukit Patu which is a lot easier. Good walking shoes, long trouser or short, long socks, mosquito repealant and 3 liters of water per person.
Don't hesitate to soak your shoes and socks with mosquito repealant, not for the mosquitoes but for the leeches hidden under dead leaves that wait for you to come. I tested it very succesfully and if you want to avoid leeches I assure you it works.
Not many roads
by DanielF
Provided the lack of roads in Mulu National Park, rivers are the main ways of communication. skilful drivers will take you to in small canoes to all the places of interest.
Beware of the fact that, if you travel during the dry season and the water level of the river is not very high, you may have to get off the boat and push it against the flow.
Tua Pek Kong temple
by Sambawalk
Tua Pek Kong Temple, located next to the fishmarket, is a temple dedicated to the much-beloved chinese deity. According to legend work started on the temple in 1913, in order to give thanks to the deity for helping end a mysterious epidemic in Miri.
Taman Awam Miri (Miri Public Park)
by longsanborn
Miri Public Park is situated on a hill, about 3km from the city center along the Miri-Bintulu Road. Anyone can get a good aerial view of the surrounding area from the higher part of the Park. There are flower and flora gardens, a souvenir center, a canteen, observatory platforms, stone carving and sculptures, man-made waterfalls, suspension bridges, jogging tracks and other sporting facilities. There is also a children's water playground nearby. People come here in the morning or evenings to exercise, relax with the family or just hanging around.
