Miri Airport

by hin6769

Hi guys,
I am a Curtin student looking for the most economic way to travel to the airport. I just wanna ask is there a bus go directly from Curtin University Miri to the Miri Airport? Or would it be cheaper if i take the bus to the city center and then transfer to a cab to the airport?
Pls reply me asap.Thank you

Re: Miri Airport

Hi!

If I am not mistaken, there is no direct bus from Curtin University to Miri Airport. You may have to transit in Miri city which is sandwhiched btw the airport & the university. Do check with the university as well if there is an internal arrangement for transfer btw the campus and the airport/city.

Hope this help.

Travel Tips for Miri

Photography in Lambir Park

by caching

A walk in Malaysia's most diverse plant species park, Lambir National Park. This is one place you should not miss. Its very close. Bus services there. But my general tip is on photography. Lambir is rather dense, and quite often wet. I would bring a rain cover with me all the time, and for your camera, a polariser for the water falls and blue blue sky. Having a forest just 20 minutes away will be something I will miss! Picture shows a tree which reminds me of a tree-magician in the Disney's production Fantasia. The branch looks like a magician's wand...

Miri diving

by Sambawalk

Miri has long been known for it's exotic national parks and caves, it's under water world is now gaining attention of scuba divers ever since the untouched coral reefs were discovered in recent years. The reefs here are all patch reefs with varying depths from 7 to 30 meters with average visibility of 10 to 30 meters.

The variety of corals and other marine life on the reefs rivals the best in the region. Hard and soft corals cover the entire reefs. Gorgonians, sea-whips, anemones, sponges and crinoids are abundant. Reef fish like the angel fish, butterfly fish, fusiliers, groupers, stingrays, trigger fish, parrot fish, wrasses are among the numerous species that can be seen. 40 species of nudibranchs have already been sighted.

Boat diving with Tropical Dives is easy and comfortable! The dive locations have next to no current most of the time and water temperature averages 30 degree Celsius.

ived with Seridan Mulu Tour & Travel. I did 3 dives for RM400, inclusive of equipment.

I have dived in various places in Malaysia, including Sipandan, KK, Palua Tioman and Langkiwi. Miri is unquie and good.

Public Taxi

by chiabh

All taxis operating in Miri is controlled by the Miri Taxi Association... Contrarily to all that is written in government and tourist brochures, the taxi fare is all but cheap... The fare is fixed for the various (popular) destinations... A 15mins trip from the airport to the Miri Marriott Resort & Spa (zone 2) is high at RM22... A similar trip from the Resort to Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club is certainly high at RM25... But this cannot beat the 10mins ride to the City Centre from the Resort at the exorbitant fare of RM15 (for the 2km journey)...

Visitors really have not much of a choice as the public transport in Miri is not so well developed and public buses do not go to many of the tourist places and certainly not the golf courses...

explore the caves..

by eelaine

there are four 'show caves' which are easily accessible with wooden walkways.. lang cave, clearwater cave and wind cave have very fascinating formations.. while deer caves have lots and lots of bats.. and there's a garden at the end of the cave called the garden of eden.. breathtaking!

"The GRAND OLD LADY!"

by balhannah

The Grand Old Lady is probably not what you expect!.................

It is Miri's NO 1 OIL WELL........

In the 1800s, Miri was an unknown fishing village of a few families trading occasionally with passing ships, then oil was discovered and Miri became the first oil town in Malaysia and was put on the road to progress!

Quote.........."the first cable-tool oil well in the country, a 'mother' who milked a poor country to a prosperous nation."

She is located on top of Canadian Hill, also located here is a Museum and Canada Hill has nice views over the city of Miri.
