Coin Operated Laundry!
by Orpheous
I used the laundry service at one of the hotels that we stayed in while traveling through Asia, and aside from charging us a total of nearly THB2000 (AU$70) they also wrecked some of our clothes.
So, after nearly 2 weeks of travel, we decided to search for a laundromat in KL. By cross referencing
our map and phone book, we found THE ONLY coin operated laundry close to public transport in Kuala Lumpur!
They have several excellent imported "Maytag" machines to wash, and several BIG coin op dryers,
The best part is, that each large load only costs around MYR3 (AU$1) plus a little extra to dry.
So, for around MYR10 (AU$3.50) we had 3 big loads of fresh, clean laundry to continue our journey with!
Oh, and the guys who started the business are Aussie ex-pats, who are absolute characters, and gave us some excellent advice on how to survive in KL etc...
Thank you Wash And Save!

Just before you get to the 7-Eleven near the laundromat, pick up some Pisang Goreng, or banana fritters from the hawker stand on the corner, they're the best in KL!

Chinatown
by phil_uk_net
With a new roof, some palm trees and the removal of stalls selling copied CDs and DVDs, it appears that the authorities are satisfied with their 'cleaning up' of Chinatown.
However, the disgusting buildings are still all there. It is a very superficial makeover.
Cover up in the Mosque.

We spent a lovely hour at KL's Nation Mosque (Masjid Negara). At the entrance you are greeted by a lady who helps you in to a smock like Galabaya and head scarf. Men too are to dress appropriately so its best not to wear shorts as you too will have to wear the smock. The Qur'an dictates that Muslims should lower their gaze and dress modestly, hence the galabaya. Inside there are pamphlets about the Mosque, its community and Islamic teachings.
