As soon as you enter this hotel, you do not expect much as there is ptactically no parking outside and the lobby is pretty small. The good surprise arrives when you enter the room which is big and full of conforts. The location is excellent as it is in the heart of bukit bintang area and there is wi-fi access in the room paying 15 ringits for 24 hours.
Unique Quality: Big room, excellent location.
The capitol Hotel is centrally located and is close to some of the sights (KL Tower, Petronas Twin Towers).
Stayed for 2 nights, and it was very clean, had good service, the food from the room service menu was cheap but nice, satellite TV, great views of the city and Petronas Towers, and the location is very central (Bukit Bintang) with malls across the road and food stalls surrounding it. Would recommend to all visitors.
Unique Quality: Very nice bathroom, Very handy Location, great views
Directions: next to Sangei Wang mall
This nice and modern hotel is well located in the Jalan Bulan area, comfortable rooms with a very good bathroom, and some great views of the city skyline.
It was a last minute decision. Of course we did not make any reservation. Most of the hotels around Jalan Bukit Bintang were fully booked but we managed to have two premium corner rooms (1805 & 1809) on the 18th floor overlooking Kuala Lumpur city that cost us RM402.50 per room per night for two nights (checked-in on 11 Aug and checked-out on 13 Aug 06).
Unique Quality: We could see Petronas Twin Towers and KL tower. A very beautiful sight especially at night.
Directions: Along Jalan Bulan and very near to Jalan Bukit Bintang.
I’m not going to rave about this place, really. I’ll grit my teeth and be objective, honest.
Damn, two simple sentences and I fail. I loved it.
Part of loving it is in being smitten with KL, but for me part of being smitten with KL is in staying in a cozy, classy place within walking distance of a lot of things that make the city interesting and wonderful.
That in itself should be a recommendation for the casual traveler. But I’ve also read that this is a 3-star hotel masquerading as something more, and that’s true too. The service throughout is distinctly personal, above-and-beyond helpful. And in a modern city, service makes all the difference.
Unique Quality: Objectively: the rooms are on the small side, but are comfortable and immaculate. At least two sides have great skyline views. You cannot beat the location if you like to shop, eat, or walk to your major tourist sites. Getting to the main bus station is easy, although if you have luggage the would-have-been a short walk will cost you proportionally too much. The café downstairs is great, room service is great. Ultra-early wake up calls/alerts/breakfasts need a little work on coordination, but that’s not entirely the hotel’s fault. (Blame stupid flight scheduling and the poor travel agencies that try to coordinate with them.)
Capitol Hotel is in the perfect location for shopping. The hotel is surrounded by huge shopping malls.
The Lobby is very small in this hotel and the night we checked it we thought we would have a drink in the Lobby Bar as it was open to midnight.
After unpacking (just before 11pm) we went to the bar only to be told they were closing. Strange, as there were people in there eating and drinking!!
The rooms in this hotel were ok, but a bit on the small side. We had booked a double room but our room had twin beds. We could have moved the next day but decided to stay in this room due to the FANTASTIC views from the window. It was lovely at night, all the lights and the Twin Towers. The bathroom was huge, I have never seen such a big shower. We also liked that you can open your windows in the room!
The staff at Reception were lovely and very helpful with recommending tours etc.
Would I stay here again?? not sure, maybe a bit to small for us, but the location was great.
The room, including the toilet, is clean. The service is good-- the hotel staff are very attentive. Breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of choices. We had a good view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline from our room. I certainly would recommend this hotel because of its cleanliness, service and location.
Unique Quality: The hotel does not have a pool but it is right within the shopping district. The Imbi monorail station is just a few minutes walk. There are restaurants within the vicinity that serve good food. KLCC is a short taxi ride from the hotel.
Mid-range hotel which is in downtown of KL (bukit bintang area). Shopping centers around, money changers and restaurant also bowling area within walking distance....
Also near the train station if u want to get arround KL.
I certainly won't recommend this place to anyone after my 3-day stay last week. Here's why:
1) The toilet cistern leaked, so much so that after the 1st night, my bathmat was soaked through. The "repairs" lasted all of 1 day. By the 3rd night, it was leaking again.
2) On the 2nd day, I returned at 5.30pm to discover that my room had still not been made up. After asking for it to be cleaned, I returned from dinner at 10pm only to discover that the chambermaid had left only 1 bath towel for the 2 of us.
3) In retrieving my fruits and juice from the fridge on the 2nd morning, I discover that they are even warmer than the room. The maintenance men told me the fridge was turned on, but the thermostat turned off. Amazing.
4) Neither the table lamp nor the standing lamp work. Strangely, this was the case at another hotel I stayed at in Petaling Jaya recently. There was no electrical current in the socket for the reading and standing lamps.
5) There are live bands which play well into the night outside the premises of BB Plaza, which is just up the road. If your room faces the building, like mine, don't expect any sleep till about 2am.
Unique Quality: It's unbeatable location right in the heart of the KL shopping belt. It is a:
a) 1-min walk to Bukit Bintang Plaza and Sungei Wang (shopping centres)
b) 4-min walk to Lot 10 (another shopping centre, more upmarket than BB Plaza and Lot 10)
c) 5-min walk to Times Square (a huge, new shopping centre)
d) 5-min walk to Jalan Alor, a great place to sample local food - street hawker style.
Directions: Bukit Bintang
Stayed in this hotel a few times before. The reception staff are not that friendly, but the convenience more than makes up for it.
Located right behind a shopping centre and near to Bintang Walk. Restaurants and cafes are only minutes away.
Unique Quality: Conveniently located within walking distances to the major shopping and eating areas of Kuala Lumpur.
Room rates from approximately RM125 onwards. Hotel room is nicely furnished in modern theme. Bathroom is really nice with a full-height glass window and wooden blinds separating the occupier and the exterior.
The rate is attractive and the hotel is usually fully-booked during the holiday seasons.
Rooms are quite small but they're really nicely decorated with comfortable beds. This hotel is also near Bukit Bintang where all the shopping action is.
Unique Quality: The hotel rates are relatively cheap for what you get, they once won some interior design award for their rooms, but there is no pool.
A very practical hotel. Our room was at the 9th floor and we had a view of the Petronas Towers!
Unique Quality: Less than 10 meters away are shopping areas and even a night market for shoppaholics who couldnt get enough from their day shopping!
I like the conveneint location of the hotel - I can go shopping at the nearby malls, dining at BB Park with live cultural /stage performances or just head to Bintang Walk for more gigs late in the evening.
The hotel ambience and decoration look simple yet elegant, and view of KL Tower from the room is magnificient.
Unique Quality: Hotel Capitol is centrally located in Bukit Bintang Central, Kuala Lumpur. Being in the main shopping district of KL, the hotel is surrounded by some of KL's most popular shopping malls such as Sg Wang Plaza, Low Yat Plaza and BB Plaza. It is just next to BB Park and also walking distance to Lot 10, Starhill, KL Plaza, Berjaya Timesquare KL and KL Monorail stations.
Directions: Within Bukit Bintang Central.
I was well greeted by the clean rooms and neat lobby. The rooms had clean showers with a beautiful view of the bukit bintang streets downstairs.
Room service is good and everything is in tip top condition whenever i'm back after going out for the whole day. Toilets are always cleaned and dried to look the same as check-in condition daily.
Hotel breakfast is provided by their own cafe at the 2nd floor, it is possible to get a simple and sumptous breakfast here with a great spread of local delights as well as some western breakfast of scrambled eggs.
Directions: Just in front of Sungei Wang Plaza, Walking distance from FEDERAL HOTEL along Jalan Bukit Bintang
Thanks to all those who have posted info on the hotels in KL.
From your advice I have chose to go to the Capitol Hotel Jalan Bulan.
Does anybody know its website as I would like to book the rooms direct and not through an agency.
You can try Asiarooms: http://www.asiarooms.com/malaysia/kuala_lumpur.html?cpg=2&type=
