God awful hotel

We had prepaid our booking for 3 nights with a late checkout, our package was 4 nights for price of 3 but we were leaving the evening before the 4th night. The travel agent had put the date down for 3 nights even though the printout said 4 night package. The Indian manager argued the point for 30 mins that because the date was X we could not check out late in the evening as expected! Another thing that was advertised in our travel brochure when we booked was complimentary internet access, there is NONE!!! They have cables in the room and you have to pay every day for access if you want it, and no way were they going to honour the tour companys brochure...

The staff were rude, ALL of them expect the concierge, the attitude was incredible, here are paying customers who have paid much more than your rack rate in a package, so treat them like garbage...

The first room was disgusting, mold on the ceiling especially around the aircon and bathroom, a recipe for instant sickness! Sliding windows did not close properly and the noise was incredible outside. Rooms were dirty, old, and dank.

30 mins later we had seen 4 more rooms, the last one being acceptable, just. The sliding door still did not seal, it was sitting crooked, I had to go out on the balcony at 11pm to pack the bottom with cardboard to lift it up and reduce the traffic noise to a dull roar...

Room decor is very average, bathroom is old and worn and dirty and tiny. Really tiny, like a $15.00 guesthouse in Thailand, not a 4 star hotel in KL. Every room we saw was the same including the suite and the 2 room apartment style "luxury" room!

First evening we sat in the lobby bar to listen to the band, this lasted about 30 mins before we were driven out by an American tourist smoking heavily and generally being crass with his rented girlfriend. Yes you heard right, its a popular place for the NGO's to come with their trick for the evening as the place has a Filipino band. So if you are not into watching middle aged men with 18-21 year old girls stay away!!

First night was restless, we went down to breakfast at 9 to find the place packed, this must be a cheap package hotel for Euro tourists as they were everywhere, banging into you and pushing in constantly. The food was terrible, rubber sausages were the highlight LOL. Most of the food trays were empty and it took 20 mins for them to start refilling them, about the only thing edible was an omelette, due to it being cooked while you wait.

As others have said the only thing going for it is the 5 min walk to KLCC, but to be honest this is not even a selling point, there are other hotels almost as close that crap all over the Corus.

We stopped by the CONCORDE Hotel on the way to the KL Tower the next afternoon, I had stayed here back in 2000 and it was pretty good, but was not in any travel brochure when we booked this trip. They have just renovated their Superior and Deluxe rooms, we got a Deluxe room walk in rate cheaper than the corus package, WITH free Wifi throughout the hotel, with breakfast in their very nice new cafe, the rooms are superb for the price, brand new and clean, 42" flat screen, stereo with USB connection which was great for charging things, and DVD player too! Very quiet in the room, and VERY dark, the curtains were truly blockout and we slept really well. The bathroom, well all I can say is superb, big shower, huge water flow, lots of room, quality fittings and all brand new. Staff were helpful and its only 7-10 mins walk to KLCC, its 3 mins to the monorail station, and 3 mins to all the nightlife, bars, restaurants, everything is right there.

We were so happy to check out of the Corus early, the 2 lost nights is a small price to pay when you are on a trip with multiple stops. To top it off the manager at the Concorde gave us a 6pm checkout without any extra charges, we will be back there for sure.

Great hotel in KL

We were really lucky when we got to this hotel because we had just a standard room booked, but they didn't have any left so we got a Paradise Cabana room. The room was absolutely beautiful. There was a four poster bed, and you also had a little balcony. From your balcony it was only a few metres to the pool! We absolutely loved it ... we got home at midnight one night and just layed in the pool on our backs, looking at the Petronas Towers! It was great. I would definately spend the extra money next time to get this room.

Unique Quality: Great pool, view of the Petronas Towers, polite staff, close to shopping and the Petronas Towers, close to the train ... overall a great location.

Best Location

I recommend Corus Hotel because of the location. It is situated at the very heart of Kuala Lumpur and only five minutes walk to KL City Centre which houses the ever popular Petronas Twin Towers, Suria KLCC, Outdoor Park, and the Entertainment district.

There is no place better than this when it comes to location. It is close to Chinatown, Bukit Bintang area, and the Hard Rock Cafe.

Check In: 1400Hour
Check out:1200Hour

Unique Quality: I can see the Petronas Twin Towers from my hotel window and that is a plus factor. My room has temperature control, international direct dialing telephone, mini bars, in-room safes, coffeemakrs, and cable TV

Best Value Hotel near KLCC

I have had a plesant experience staying at Corus hotel.
Facilities: They have a swimming pool, bathtub in room and the coffe and tea making facilities. If you need extra such as iron, extra pillow or towels, you can call room service. The staff is polite and helpful.

Location: It is very close to KLCC and beside two LRT stations, Ampang and KLCC so you won't have difficulty getting around. There are also a few clubs around there if you are into clubbing.

Generally a good business class hotel and if you are staying with your family.

Unique Quality: Location & amenities.

Great Access to Petronas Towers

A very friendly welcome for our family of six. We only stayed one night, but were very happy with the rooms and the service. Literally 5 minutes stroll from the Petronas Towers and KLCC shopping complex, we found this hotel very adequate for our short stay.

Unique Quality: Views of Petronas Towers.

Decent hotel in a great location

Known formerly as Ming Court Hotel, I've stayed here several times as the Aeroline executive bus service from Singapore stops right outside. The furnishings are quite old and the service is quite standard, but the location can't be beat, especially as rooms go for about RM200 a night. WIthin 5-10 minutes walk away are the Twin Towers, while walking the other direction for about the same distance will take you to the Jalan Ampang LRT. There are also lots of cabbies outside the hotel, and the main shopping area of Jalan Bukit Bintang and Sungai Wang is about a RM5-RM6 ride away.

Unique Quality: It has a nice small pool and gym for guests.

Great hotel

Almost always use this hotel when in KL. Rooms clean and well cared for. Staff very friendly. Service can be a little on the slow side occasionally. Hotel a little noisy but this is to be expected as location is on a main thorooughfare. No more than 400m from the metro and Petronas Towers. In shopping mall next to the towers, food very good especially at the San Francisco Steak House but avoid the California Pizza Place (level 1 of shopping mall) - pizzas are terrible.

Unique Quality: Pool great.

Two Star Hotel by my Standard

No problem with the facility, except that the carpet smell like damp.
Room is ok.
Free breakfast is abundant.
Facade and reception area is pleasing to the eye.
It's near Petronas, about 300 meters away.

Unique Quality: Swiming pool is excellent. Looks clean and not so chlorine smelling.
Walking distance grom PETRONAS and other tourist attractions.

Where to Stay in Jalan Ampang Vicinity

by gerardlim

Hi All,

We will be visiting KL on Late December from Singapore by bus. Is there any good hotel but not too expensive in Jalan Ampang's Vicinity? (Because that's where the bus will stop) For 6 people/1 night. our budget is around 300MYR

Thanks for your help :)

You can try Cititel Express. They are on sale now from M$68.

hi

The nearest hotel will be Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur the rate will be around MYR 230 per room. if im not mistaken your bus will stop at Avenue K that located in front of Petronas Twin Tower. Corus Hotel is only a walking distance from where ur bus stop. there are few more hotels located along jalan ampang likes Rennaisance Hotel, New World Hotel (adjacent to Rennaisance Hotel), Maya Hotel,Lanson Place. U can surf their website to get the current rate. the cheaper hotels are located quite far from here as jalan ampang are premier area. the cititel express would be a cheaper option. the taxi fare wouldnt cost u more than RM 1O from jalan ampang to the hotel that located at jalan tunku abdul rahman.

hope this will help
