City Hotel
The Hotel is situated amongst a group of Hotels including Ritz Charlton and Westin and a short walk away from the Pavilion and Starhill.
Local food are also a short walk away.
The rooms are spacious and breakfast is above average.
Unique Quality: Just a short stroll from the hub of Kuala Lumpur

Within the Golden Triangle
Situation of hotel is excellent, close to Bintang Area, a little 20minute walk to Petronas Towers. Hotelsrooms spacious and well furbished. Public areas not too inviting. Staff friendly. Cheap taxi's on right side of hotel. Coffeeshop Windows needs a facelift.
Unique Quality: Number of TV channels is only 15 or so, mainly Malaysian or Indonesian. Swimmingpool small and only a couple of hours sunshine (high buildings enclose this hotel).

Small but Sweet!
Myself and my family stayed at the Dorsett Regency from the 20th to 28th April 2007. After reading numerous forums and web sites we were a bit worried about staying there. Well, all of our fears were allayed as we arrived at 11pm on a Friday night, and the staff greeted us and very quickly organised our rooms. Initially our travel consultant told us that for adjoining rooms, they could only give us a king and a rollaway, as we had been upgraded to deluxe premier as we were staying over 7 nights. They organised our room which was huge and very clean, and the childrens adjoining room had 2 queen beds, the kids were pleased! We got our free paper every morning, so did the kids, and our rooms were always cleaned well and fully stocked of all toiletries, towels etc. Our only complaint, and I am being picky, (as we loved the place), was that as much as the breakfasts were plentiful and arranged beautifully, it was cold!!! No matter what time we went, everything was always lukewarm or cold. Eggs are cooked as you ask for them, so we all tended to have the eggs or omlettes, and they were beautiful, but after about 4 mornings, there are only certain ways to have eggs! In saying that, we as a family decided that we would definately return to the Dorsett in the future, but not have the breakfast and eat at the many restaraunts around the place.
The location is perfect, as it is a pivotal point for going everywhere. I thought that it was better than even being on Bukit Bintang as it is quieter, and yet so close to everything.
On the whole, we loved the place, and will stay there again without any hesitation!
Unique Quality: The pool area was nice and pleasant. The location was perfect to get to lots of shops, restaraunts and not too far to the monorail.

Deluxe room
We obviously had a very different experience to the other reviewers. Don't know what we were charged as it was part of an overall travel package. The Dorset Regency Hotel is a very tired hotel and certainly does not warrant a four star rating. The carpet and furniture in the lounge area was stained and shabby. There was no in house directory and they supplied three sheets of hotel writing paper (3 only) (note pad size) next to the phone. We had to request towels on arrival as none had been provided. Glasses were not washed, soap was not replaced, cracked glass was removed when it was pointed out but not replaced, plumbing was a disaster and 2, 3 or more flushes were necessary. Plugs to the bath and basin were broken or knobs were missing. The shower cornices were mouldy, power cut out three times on the last day until they over rode the card entry power on switch. The telephone handset plug did not click into place and came out when trying to use the phone. On check out they charged 60c for the one call made but were unable to give change but did not waive the charge (no big deal but it would have been nice if they said don't worry about it). No bottled water or fresh milk supplied unless it was ordered from room service. In short would never stay there again. There must be other hotels of the same status with far better facilities.
Unique Quality: On the plus side the location was central and access to public transport only a short walk away. Breakfasts were great, service was good and the pool was adequate even though it was closed at 7 pm (but only just as we had to ring for towels as mostly no one was in attendance at the pool desk.

A short stay....
From the outside, it looked pretty crappy. But inside its actually nice. The staffs are friendly and approachable. The whole hotel was packed with Arabic tourist as its the holiday season for them and they like to come to Malaysia as it is a Muslim country. The room that we got is nice ... with a perfect view of the KLCC. Too bad the weather is not that good, it was gloomy the whole time. As for breakfast, its not as nice as we expected but it was alrite. But for short getaway, it doesnt matter..... it just a change of environment that we need.

Bargain Hotel in Heart of Bukit Bintang
We stayed as a family of 4 in 2 rooms in Jan 2006 for 5 nights. We thought the staff were excellent, the rooms spacious and clean. Even though it was a busy time of year to book we got an excellent price for the rooms that included a buffet breakfast. I would recommend this room to all visitors to KL it is only a short walk to the Bukit Bintang Shopping strip so this hotel is well placed for shopping & eating. Close by is BB plaza a bargain hunters delight. Berajaya Times Square the gigantic shopping centre & theme park are also just a taxi ride away.
Unique Quality: Besides the great position close to shops, it is well accessed by Taxi to other tourist areas of KL including China town and the Monorail station is just a 10 min walk away. The KL towers are also a short ride away and these can be seen lit up at night from some of the hotels rooms. Spectacular sight. The pool area although very plain is a great place for a quick dip to cool off in the hot humid climate of KL.

A stone's throw from Bukit Bintang
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and 5 days. We chose this hotel over the internet after comparing the price and location for many hotels.
We were not disappointed. The room is very well appointed with all the amenites any luxurious hotel room should have. A comfortable bed a spectacular view from the window, a bathtub, hairdryer, coffee tea making facilities...everything. The only thing it does not have is complimentary drinking water. The staff says the tap water in the bathroom is safe to drink but one should never take a chance on that in a foreign country.
The breakfast is very good. Since Malaysia is a predominantly Muslim country they do not however serve any pork products. They do make up for that by serving the most delicious beef bacon.
The staff is friendly and efficient.
The best part about the hotel is that it is a 5 minute walk from the Bintang walk which is where you need to be for your shopping, eating and nightlife.
Unique Quality: The hotel has a LCD computer monitor in the room adn you can surf the net for about 30 ringgits for 24 hours which is quite cheap.
some of the rooms have a view of the petronas twin towers.

One of the best hotel in KL
I stayed for 2 nights at Dorsett Hotel and very satisfied with the room, amenities, in the room they provide a flat monitor that gives you information about KL , the hotel and all the facilities that it provides. In each room they also provide free magazines that includes all tourist info. The breakfast buffet was superb, the people were very helpful.
and it's located just behind the Bukit Bintang Walk, it's within walking distance

Convenient 4-star hotel.
This hotel is just across the road of the posh Ritz Carlton, situated on Jalan Imbi, and is very near to Jalan Bukit Bintang for the shopping. The shopping street is just at most 5 minutes walk away. Free-parking at the hotel too.
Unique Quality: Nothing unique there, just that it is surrounded by posh hotels, and can see many many posh cars around that area. Breakfast is continental buffet.
Usually I will stay there when they have cheap promotion.
There's a health spa on the top floor for a relaxing evening after all the walking and shopping.

Dorsett Regency
Hi,
I'm staying at the Dorsett Regency for 5 days, is this hotel ok. I have read lots of reviews but everyone has a different opinion, what does everyone out there think?
Cheers
Re: Dorsett Regency
I've stayed there twice, first time they upgraded me for no apparent reason and it was a massive room and a great view. Second time I got what I paid for, still a lovely room. Breakfast on both occasions were nice, had better in other hotels also have had a lot worse. The hotel concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful both times. Small but stylish swimming pool but do be aware the sun only shines on the pool for a short time of the day, the remaining time it's in the shade. Bukit Bintang is just around the corner.
Re: Dorsett Regency
Dorsett Regency is a boutique hotel run by luxury hotel operator who also runs Rizt Carldton, Westin and Marriot. They're all walking distance to each other and its luxurios. Don't worry, you're in good hands.
