Indulge in a massage at Old Asia
by Loubna
There are many places for massages and reflexology in KL, personally I love massages and could have one more than once a week :o)
Having tried a few places in KL, this is my favourite, clean, great massages, very peaceful and decently prices.
They have a wide range of massages, reflexology, treatments etc...
This place is on Jalan Bukit Bintang opposite the Sarawak Tourism shop.
Nature in the city
by DanielF
A striking aspect for Europeans in tropical cities is that, in spite of all the modernisation and development, Nature manages to make its way into the urban sprawl. Lots of tropical birds fly in the city gardens and even a community of macaques has made of the Batu Caves their home.
VT meet @ Finnegans-Dec 2004
by Wild_Orchid
As per the first tip above, Manueleb and his family were in town and I had met them in the morning for breakfast before rushing off to do some hurried shopping with my son. Later that night, I met with him again, and this time I also got the chance to meet VT'ers Jenniferchin and cat_y88 It was a first time for me to meet these two lovely ladies. Cat was taller than I expected and a cool and quiet girl.
Jen was about what she seems in her virtual pages...urbane, sophisticated, chatty and friendly. Seemed that Manuel and family had enjoyed a dinner with them and audrey118 (but Audrey had already left when I got there that night.) We met to have drinks at Finnegans, KL (on Jalan Sultan Ismail, near Fortuna Hotel and directly across the road from Pizza Hut) and chatted about everything and nothing. It was a rather charming night to be out, as a drizzle of rain fell lightly upon us from time to time and being a Sunday, the streets were rather quiet. It was so late that the staff started turning off the lights one by one!
(Update June 2006: Cat_y88 has taken her listing off from VT and has resurfaced under a new ID).
PS.
In case you're wondering, mini skirts do not form part of my usual night-out attire. However, that night, I was indeed in my 1960's mini-skirt and boots because I had just come from a dinner with a 1960's Theme. I must say I enjoyed wearing those boots because I look like I'm ready to kick butt in them-they are 3 inch high but very comfortable! (haha) By the way, just for the record, Manuel is much younger looking in person-you just have to look beyond the obvious...beard heheh
visit the Masjid Jamek Mosque...
by Krystynn
visit the Masjid Jamek Mosque - the OLDEST mosque here in the city.
It sits right at the point where two rivers, the Kelang and Gombak rivers, meet.... and that's how the city of Kuala Lumpur came into being! Today, this mosque is a MAJOR tourist attraction... like what the Blue Mosque is to Istanbul!
Be aware of Ramadan dates
by AmsterKetti
It's important to be respectful of Ramadan in Malaysia, as Muslim Malaysians can not eat until sunset. It is amazing party at sunset though... great music and huge dinner buffets.
It's especially obvious if eating around 6ish at the KLCC food court. Muslim Malaysians will buy their food about a 1/2 hour early to prepare for eating time, so you will see tables of people sitting around waiting to eat... quite an experience!
