Not so new hotel

Hmm... I don't think I would recommend this hotel unless they're giving special rates/discounts coz the room is relatively small as compared to the neighbouring Crowne Plaza and Impiana Hotel.

My experience here wasn't good as there was a strong cigarette smell the minute I enter the room. The bathroom and the bedroom is small too.

The breakfast was not bad, though.

Unique Quality: When I was there, the pool was undergoing some kind of upgrade. I sure hope they upgrade it well, coz the pool area looked terrible even before they started the renovation.

Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur

I'd heard that the rooms in this hotel were somewhat old, but that was not the case. I had a very nice room (1313) with blow dryer, robe & slippers. I even had a view of the Petronas Towers reflected in the building across the street. Service & location were excellent. I was checked in immediately & my bags were whisked up to my room. There are stores in which to shop downstairs & several restaurants on the premises. The Nipah Coffee Shop downstairs is open until midnight & served a wonderful Caesar's salad. Likewise, the Etoile Restaurant on the lobby level served a good breakfast, at a reasonable price. There are also ATMs located close to the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Unique Quality: Hotel Equatorial has a "control" box next to the bed which has buttons to control all of the lighting in the room (desk lamp, bathroom light, entry light, wall sconces, etc.), as well as the TV, radio & air conditioning.

Good

Good location. It's near a monorail station, Raja Chulan, around 5 mins walking distance. It's easy and fast to get to Twin Tower by walk for just 10 mins. Go to KL Tower for <20 mins by walk. I and my friend also walked to Bukit Bintang and Times Square too (if you are not in hurry, try it). No need to see any map, but just followed the monorail.
Our room was at 14/F which is a non-somking floor. We could see the top of Twin Tower "from a low angle". Breakfast buffet was at the UG and had a variety of dishes and tasted good. Staff was nice and welcomed our questions.

good orientation but expensive for extras

It's easy to get a good rate (less than € 50) for a room in this hotel. But all extras (laundry, drinks, dinner, ...) are quite expensive. The staff is friendly (big smile) and helpful.
This hotel is on a good spot in town (beautiful sight on the Petronas Towers ; monorail at the front door). It's clean and huge.

Great hotel

i would definately recommmend this hotel. the place is modern, clean, has helpful staff, great central location.

Unique Quality: we had a twin room on the 13 th floor (i think) which looked out onto the Petronas Towers, what a view to wake up to. Fantastic.

I doubt wether there is a better view of the towers from any Hotel in K.L

Room with a view

We met a Norwgian woman in Port Dickson who's husband work in KL for a Norwegian company. Through them we got a very good deal at the Hotel Equatorial, 149.50 Ringgit a night! The hotel was fine, with a couple of good restaurants and a couple of Ibooks for the use of their guest. The hotel is of common business traveller standard, which means good, and there is an outdoor pool on top of the fourth floor.

Unique Quality: The proximity to the Petronas Twin Towers! Only a 5 minutes walk away :-)

Equatorial

Nice rooms, nice lounge bar, but the breakfast room looks a little bit sad (one floor under ground) and the pool is not really maintained (especially chairs and bar)

Transportation from the airport in KL

by Dres

What is the best public transportation to get to the Equatorial Hotel from the airport? Thanks, Dres

Re: Transportation from the airport in KL

by chiabh

hi dres...

the most convenient transport is also the taxi as it goes from ariport to hotel directly, and if you travel with many baggage... if not yoou can take klia express train to kl sentral and then switch to the kl-monorail with its raja chulan station close to equitorial hotel...

I would recommend the cab. It cost about 80 ringgit + -.( which is pretty cheap.) Save you all the problem with luggage and time on transfer.
Just a note. Do purchase the ticket for the cab fare at the counter before you exit, after imgr. into the arr hall.
