As long as you can live on south indian, you'll be fine. There are mama stalls everywhere in KL.

within Brickfield itself, you will find plenty of choice for pure vegetarian Indian Restaurant.

Most Indian restaurant in Brickfield are different than what commonly known as Mamak Restaurant, because all mamak restaurant provide meat product, and some do serve beef.

Travel Tips for Kuala Lumpur

KL Sentral - Left Baggage

by tanamay

There is a left baggage section in KL Sentral where you can leave your luggage while you go around KL.

In Dec '08, it cost MYR 2 (one hr), MYR 4 (one day) & MYR 6 (overnight) per bag.

Located near arrival at the back of Subway food stall.

Hot Summer day

Honestly, it was my first time in Merdaka Square and I saw alot of picture ops so, I hurry rush out from the car! The tour we hired only had 4 of us. Me and hubby and another couple that were maybe in getting- to- know each- other stage. So, you can see that they don't like to get out at the car and we're back seat so hated every moment when we got off the car because they don't like to..But, I don't bother getting off with my head always bump off with the ceiling....I made it alot of fun instead getting mad all the time=) I even took a pic of the fountain which wasn't in full beauty...There are nice spots to take around the square but I have little time that the tour guide would shout at me, TIME IS UP!!! Hmmmm...mind you!=)

Our unique Parliament House

by Audrey118

If you go to Lake Gardens area, you will see the magnificent white landmark - unfortunately few of us have a chance to go too near it. The road leading is not accessible by private cars. After the Independence from the British in 1957, round December 1959, an area near the Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens was chosen as the site on which to build the Parliament Building Complex, a building that symbolizes the democratic principles that are practised.

I like the unique beehive patterns on the tower block. These bee hive shapes - or kerawans looks ornamental but has a purpose which allows the amount of sunlight entering the building to be controlled.

The Centre

by Bjorgvin

Independence Square (Dataran Merdeka), the centre of colonial Kuala Lumpur, and its surroundings. Most of the buildings surrounding the square date from the late 18th and early 20th centuries, such as The Royal Selangor Club frequented by KL´s high society in the old days, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, and behind it the Masjid Jamek, the oldest mosque in the city, dating from 1908. It is located where the Klang and Gombak Rivers come together, on the very spot where the first settlers of Kuala Lumpur built their shelters. Just south of there is bustling Chinatown, the main street being Jalang Petaling. The atmosphere there is great both day and night.

toilets of another kind

by cleomedes

Nobody want to talk about this theme...........but let me try to explain.
Toilets or tandas, as they are called here, look sometimes different than in Europe.
If you wonder how to handle this: squat down and normaly use the water tap when ready, if you prefer toilet paper, don´t put it in the toilet, but in the trash can. This kind of toilets clog up with paper!
