Travel Tips for Kuala Lumpur

Free Internet KL airport

by kikili

Don't know if this tip is online on VT but thought i'll share it anyway.

Just got in from Changi ( singapore) where there are several free internet terminals...over 100.
Well, in KL lcct, that's rare..I was quoted 25 rinngit fior 1/2 hr..about 8 *Aussie S for the Lounge one.
By chyance I walked across to Tune hotels, about five mt walk across the car park from the domestic departures terminal and found this A/C room with five terminals for FREE... ( 1/2 hr limit) It's sponsored by CIMB bank..and although no one is waiting to use it, it's been an hour now ! Cheers

Caving in the Dark Caves - A nice experience

by bkoon

The Dark Caves (or Batu Caves) is one of the few limestone caves in Malaysia. It is situated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It is a place of worship for the Hindus.

However, for those who are interested in caving and wants to know what exactly is caving, then, go to the Dark Caves. From March 2001, the Malaysia Nature Society started to provide adventure and educational tours to the general public and tourists (they only cater to school students last time).

It was a nice and memorbale experience for me. The adventure trip is FUN!!! Very FUN!!! My friends and I got all murky coz we need to crawl and slide in order to explore the cave.

For those who are interested, you may contact the Malaysia Nature Society for more information. CAVING!!!! The REAL thing, I mean. Great experience. Make an appointment with the MNS when you visit the caves.

To Batu Caves

by yen_2

Well, for those who visited KL and didn't visit Batu Caves because it's really tiring you have to get there because it's really worth it! I guess...for me though.. 272 steep steps is very tiring but then there were many of the visitors who go up there...maybe because they just want to take picture like me..=)

Anyhow, it was a great exerience!

Federal Territory Flag of Kuala Lumpur

by xuessium

The Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory (Wilayah Persekutuan) flag consists of white and red stripes of equal width, and dark blue bigger stripe at the centre with yellow star and crescent, based on the national flag. These characteristics cannot be separated because Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia's Federal Capital.

The 14 red and white stripes (across) represent the 13 States in Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory which are under the Federal Government administration. The crescent and star stand for Islam as the official religion. The 14-pointed star represents the 13 States in Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory which acts as the Central Government and Administration.

The dark blue at the centre stands for unity of the multi-racial city folks of Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory.

Red denotes courage and strength of the city in facing the challenges in the quest for development of a dynamic and progressive cosmopolitan city.

Yellow signifies sovereignty and prosperity of Kuala Lumpur.

White symbolises grandeur, cleanliness and beauty of the city in a glittering garden.

The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur is an enclave within the State of Selangor. In its own right, it has the same status as that of Selangor. The only difference is that it does not have a head of state or a state assembly.

Chinese House temples

by tremendopunto

In front of most Chinese buildings you will see these house temples in all different sizez - from small ones hanging on a wall, to free standing big sized buildings - filled with fruits, incense and statues to satisfy the gods and ghosts of the ancestors.
