Top notch

I stayed in this property for 60+ nights while in KL on a business trip.

Unique Quality: Nothing bad to say anywhere. The spa is not to be missed, and, I think this property's best kept secret.

Beautiful Hotel near Star Hill Complex

I've stayed here once and it was a great 4-star hotel with all the luxurious and comfortable facilities to satisfy a fussy business man.

It is very close to the Star Hill Shopping Mall (next door), Lot 10 and Sungai Wang Shopping Complexes. Also 5 - 10 minutes to China town (Petaling Street) and other business centres and entertainment areas.

JW Marriott absolute no Marriott standard !!

For the past 8 years used to stay at this hotel 6 times annually. During my next stay in Kuala Lumpur won't stay any more at the JW Marriott. Except for it's price, M$ 500 a night without breakfast, this is no longer a 5-star accomodation. Though have been staying here for so many times the people from reception still not friendly nor recognize a regular guest. The maintaince of the rooms or suites are poor. Toilet and fridge and airco were not working. Beside two lights inside the room were broken.
This hotel seems to move it's breakfast location every year. And every year the location is getting more worse. Right now it's located around the swimmingpool. Which is actually too hot.
The breakfast buffet is very simple and absolutely not 5 star. You have to order your omelet and toast from the waiter. Normally it takes about 25 - 40 minutes before you got your food. During my last stay they forgot twice to bring my food. They lounge is only by invitation and you're not allowed to bring your children.

Unique Quality: This hotel doesnot have a coffeehouse
English language among the hotel staff is poor
Maintaince of hotel is poor
Wheelchair or baby stroller unfriendly
The lounge is only by invitation and doesnot allow children nor can you bring a guest
Staff in the lounge is very unfriendly and doesnot make you feel home.
Funny non-smoking policy; in most non-smoking rooms it's smells like there has been smoked inside.
In front of the hotel there's a huge shopping mall under construction; noisy and dusty
Next to the hotel is the Westin hotel; if you don't close your curtains you won't have any privacy in your hotel
Very difficult to get a taxi from this hotel
Concierge desk is very poor
Internet connection is more off-line than online

Wonderful hotel in BB

For most of my trip, I stayed at the Concorde and then upgraded for a special treat to the Mariott in BB. I probably would have stayed here longer just to enjoy the BB area a bit more. For Americans, so much value.

A five star hotel, with great service. Everyone was professional and helpful. The room had a king size bed with 7 or more pillows on top. See the pix. The room had great views of the mountains and Petronas Towers. The hotel is located in the Golden Triangle, the lively and vibrant shopping area with vibrant restaurants and entertainment.

Free parking was included.

Unique Quality: There is so much available right outside your door. There are a number of international restaurants available on the bottom floor...including a great Thai restauant. Just outside the hotel, is a canopied Starbucks, Planet Hollywood, Lot 10, and Wang center across the street. The monorail is just down the street.

Plush!!

Great bargains to be had at this hotel! We stayed here before we actually moved over to Malaysia. Lovely rooms, great view of the twin towers and a wonderful breakfast by the pool.

Luxury Modern Hotel

Stayed in this hotel a few times before.

Located right beside a shopping centre and near to Planet Hollywood. Restaurants and cafes are only minutes away.

Unique Quality: Conveniently located within walking distances to the major shopping and eating areas of Kuala Lumpur.

Room rates from approximately RM225 onwards. Hotel room is nicely furnished with a sofa. Bathroom is also nice.

The rate is rather expensive but the buffet breakfast is excellent.

JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur

by Pixie5

I am going to the Putra World Trade Centre soon, and I am looking for a hotel to stay in.
I know JW Marriott has some of the best prices for a 5 star hotel, but it has some bad reviews on Yahoos pages.
And it is not in the right area of K.L. compared to the Trade Centre.
Has anyone got some recommendations?

Pan Pacific Hotel is adjoining the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC). Across the road adjacent to The Mall is The Legend Hotel. Next to which is a Star LRT station which is very convenient.

hi pia...

yes, pan pacific and the legend are both nice hotels... you can try the legend as it is cheaper...

Hi!

If you want to saty close to PWTC, then you should consider Pan Pacific & Legend Hotel as they are walking distance frm the trade centre. Personaly, I prefer JW Marriot - its a better hotel in better a location as compare to Pan Pacific & Legend. Other 5 star hotels that you could consider are Shangri-La, Crowne Plaza Mutiara and the newly opened KL Hilton.

which ever article that badly suggest JW Marriott ought to be shot!!! the location is one of the best in town, second to Mandarin Oriental which has the KLCC mall, Peronas twin tower and the of course the LRT!!!

But Marriott location has its advantage, very close to other shopping malls, and street food as well.

And in my opinion the Putra World Trade Centre locations sucks - i totally avoid that area - it is to me, the wrong end of KL.... esplly if there is a convention there - it creates a bad traffic situation. The best part of it, of course it has the connectivity of the LRT.

depending on yr priority - if proximity is an issue, than stay within PWTC area, like Pan Pacific - immediat connection or at Legend, across the road.
Taxis are cheap in Msia - so you can still stay at Marriotts and travel the distance.

Hi there,

Audrey is quite right. Taxis are cheap and at the end nothing in the city centre of KL is really far away from each other. So, I would recommend the Mandarin Oriental instead of Marriott, cause the recreation facilies are amazing, esp. the wonderful poolarea, overlooking the KLCC Park. The pool of Marriott is disappointing for a 5 star hotel.

Enjoy your stay in KL, my favorite city.
