if I were you I would look for a good Malay restaurant as you can have delicious authentic Malaysian foods.

I absolutely agree. If you are in a country, the people really know how to cook local food and only give a reasonable facsimile of the food of other countries. It is like getting over-easy eggs in the morning in a Chinese restaurant. They come out brown, because they are cooked at high temperatures, and they are hard. If you never had an egg in a western country, you really don't know what you are trying to reproduce when cooking.

Second point, If you can't get real local ingredients, you can't make the dish taste like it would in the other country. Ever have Chinese food in the USA? It is terrible compared with real Chinese. Stick to Malay food, it is wonderful!

There are plenty of Thai/Vietnamese restaurants in KL - all good! Why Thai/Vietnamese in particular? ;-)

Just google either Thai or Vietnamese restaurants in KL and chose the one closest to you. E.g. Saigon Village in Imbi should be good - they were great in Bangsar but moved to Imbi..

Travel Tips for Kuala Lumpur

KLIA airport lounge

by sheherezad

Take a look at the Plaza Premium Lounge at KLIA at: http://www.malaysiasite.nl/loungeng.htm

I haven't used the one at KLIA but have used the one in SIN to shower/rest after my long haul flight from SFO.

And I purchased the lounge pass online prior to arrival but do check if you can buy them upon arrival..

You can book online via: http://www.plaza-asia.com/#

KLCC Petrosains

by dennisKL

Normally people go KLCC for shoppe,F&B and taking photo....its happen to me as well.
There is a petrosains located at the top floor of KLCC suria. It's a science center. Discovery local Petronas Company about the petrol plantations, research and technology. How to process petroleum and more. Quite interesting. It is open daily 10am-5pm. Last entry is about 5pm. I took about 3hours plus to go around. I think is not enough time for this....4-5hours is just nice. RM12 per pax is not a big figure....

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)

by xuessium

Very new sparkling airport - ambitious intentions to compete with the airports of Singapore and Hong Kong clearly evident. Clean, cool and the high ceilings gave a grand sense of space, though lighting at night was a little dark. Shopping was adequate though not as varied or plenty compared to Singapore's or Amsterdam's. Prices was a little daunting though - items were priced much much higher compared to outside the airport. Customs clearance was swift and efficient; nothing to complain. Am puzzled by the architectural design to have an "aerotrain" connecting the 2 terminals for domestic and international departures. Felt that it was a waste of time. The biggest dis-adavantage of the airport was the distance between itself and the city proper.
Took almost 1 hour plus via taxi to commute - absolutely tiresome. WEBSITE LINK: KUALA LUMPUR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KLIA)

SULTAN ABDUL SAMAD

by Adeline_Foo

Overlooking the Merdeka Square, Sultan Abdul Samad Building was built in 1897 to house the various administrative departments of the British Government at the time. Its Moorish features have attracted the interest of visiting historians and students of architecture. Today, the building houses the Supreme and High Courts and Infokraf, a centre for Malaysian handicrafts
