Staying in a skyscraper

by Otrebor about Maytower Hotel

We spent in total 5 days here. Good place to stay in Kuala Lumpur. Nice swimming pool. Small rooms and noisy air-con. Friendly staff. The hotel is close to Little India, nice Indian restaurants around and Central Market is not too far.
Book on line because is cheaper! Swimming pool is quite big and not crowded.
Very good breakfast.

Batu Caves to Genting Highlands

by JohanIsWeg

I know you can travel via tour bus from KL Sentral to Genting Highlands. Is there an option to travel directly from vicinity Batu Caves to Genting Highlands? Methinks it would be a bit of a waste having to travel 15km back to KL before you can set out for Genting Highlands...

You might consider traveling by taxi.

We went up to Genting Highlands by taxi, sorry I can't tell you the cost, as I wasn't the one paying, but shouldn't be too much.

Batu Caves is right on the way to Genting Highland from KL Sentral. I am sure u will get a bus from there or a taxi. Dont come back to KL Sentral.

The luxury express buses normally ply from KL Central to Genting. If memory serves me correctly there's a service between the Gombak Train Station to Genting.

So you are left with probably taxi service as the most convenient.

Not sure if there are any public buses plying direct from Batu Caves to Genting.

Travel Tips for Kuala Lumpur

Go to the cinema...

by SwedishViking

Near the Central market there are a few cinemas.
This is a perfect place to hide from the heat and rest your feet after a few hours of walking.

The cinemas have AC and it's cheap. See the newest Hollywood movies or a local action movie...
Hollywood movies are subtitled in Malay.
Local movies are subtitled in English. Ask the cashier if you are unsure about the subtitling...

Enjoy the film!

Getting Mobile SIM

by maztek

I visited KL for 11 days in the month of Aug and to keep in touch with my children back home I obtained a DIGI connection from one of the outlet at KL Sentral. I was most satisfied with its performance and utility. With just little amount of RM 8.50 I was enjoying all services. Later on a DIGI stall in Suria KLCC my connection was enhanced with additional facilities like international roaming and extra tones etc. And must mention that just because of this connection I was treated a special guest and was honored with a gift and was served some snacks at the stall. The staff was very cordial and looked after out of the courtesy.

Finding your way

by momossa

Most of the salesmen/saleswomen in shops speak english, however If you lost your way in the sreets or trying to reach a certain place and want to ask somebody about it try to find people of indian origin. Your probability will be very high that he speaks english fluently.
No offense for other malyasian people, please.

4 DIGITS

by l_joo

If you are in Kuala Lumpur, and if you don't understand why are there always so many peoples in busy serious outlook standing inside a shop of nothing, and these peoples are seriously queuing as if they are going to get some free travel tickets, if you still scratching your head, let me tell you, these peoples are actually gamblers where they have to queue at the shop we called 4-DIGITS to place their bet in 4 numbers, that they hope to win some easy cash to create better future.
