Fishing
by kyoub
These clear blue waters offer the sports fishermen adventure of a lifetime.
In the months of February to July, the large predatory fishes such as Tengirris (King Mackerel), Dorado's, Tuna, Black Marlin and Sailfish congregate in large numbers off the island of Labuan to feed on the abundant amount of bait fish in the area.
The seas off Labuan form part of the migratory route for these ocean travellers. These fishes will feed and fight aggressively when hooked and will no doubt provide the sport fishermen with excitement.
Coastal fishing around the coral reefs and bottom structures yield coral trout, grouper, and red snapper, while the mangrove swamps are rich in barramundi, mangrove jacks, and tarpon.
Sea sports events like Labuan International Big Games Fishing Tournament, International Regatta and Underwater Treasure Hunt, held every year has attracted both local and international visitors to this tropical paradise.
Financial Park Labuan
by Sambawalk
Financial Park Labuan is the place where all the offshore banks are and also the biggest shopping mall on the whole island. This mall is nothing to compare with KLCC in Kuala Lumpur. It only has ordinary average type of shops.
LABUAN BIRD PARK
by balhannah
Our Taxi driver took us to the Labuan Bird Park. Its not a real huge park, but we really enjoyed a walking around the nice setting.
A Myna bird here talks incredibly well, so good, that we thought it was another person talking! Once we got the camera out, he stopped, camera shy!!
There is meant to be 580 bird species located here. The birds are kept in three large geodesic domes connected via four tunnels, where they can roam freely in their natural settings,
One great thing for us, was walking in the avairy with the Hornbills. I GOT CHASED BY ONE, I guess he thought I might have some food for him. Can't say I liked the size of his beak.
It was good to get a close up look of them not behind bars. Another plus, was seeing Owls in the daytime.
Since we visited, they have incorporated live bird shows featuring the Bird Park's popular Cockatoo, Kent, and a Mollucan Cockatoo, Mulan.

LABUAN lives up to its name, gardens everywhere, tree lined streets and lots of gardeners keeping it nice. This is a small island of only 95 sq. km, with only 56% developed. Coral reefs surround the island and there are four shipwrecks for divers to explore. We did a lot of walking here, found it easy to get around, the people friendly and helpful. Hired a taxi for a cheap way to see the sights. Our Hotel accommodation was excellent, located right on the waterfront.
