Water villas: Luxury!
These are teh most expensive accomodation on the island. Your own piece of paradise on stilts!
Note of warning: the sea looked quite agitated around the villas in November, so no beautiful blue calm trabsparent water for you!
This is not the best time to go to the Maldives anyway so condition might be better at a different time of year.
Two terraces overlooking the sea, your own entry to the water. Privacy!

Beach villas: Beach villas
These are on the beach. You can have the normal ones or the jacuzzi villas. They look real nice and spacious and have fab view of the sea.
In my opinion, definitely worth paying extra for.
Some of them are on the perfect white sand beach (jetty side), others are more secluded but on a less idealic beach.
Your own bit of the beach!

Garden villas: Cheapest accomodation
Kuredu is actually quite a big island. If you take a package holiday, careful where you'll end up. These villas do not have a sea view, they are the second row of accomodation and are located in the middle of the island.
Is it worth crossing half the world to end up in aging villas with no view? Not sure.
Cheap. I guess. The inside looks nice.
Note ratings/prices are given because they are compulsory but I did not stay in these.

Kuredu Island Resort: A Little Bit Of Paradise
We stayed here for our honeymoon in May 2005. We rented a water villa which was just perfect.
If you are in either a water villa or jacuzzi villa you will be at the 'exclusive' end of the island. You can join in the AI buffet everynight which is themed and I assume rotates every two weeks or you can head to the other restaurants on the island to pay for your meal if you fancy a change.
I would recommend this island to anyone who would like to go to paradise but is a bit worried about being bored. This island is one of the large in the Maldives and consequently offers more activities to keep you entertained.
There is no swimming pool at the Sangu end of the island (this 'exclusive' end) so you have to head to the other end for a dip. However the Sangu end is beautiful with the restaurant and bar on the beach and short walk along the boardwalk back to your water villa.
The water villas are a must have as you have your own privacy and you can just step down into the water from them. We could snorkel everyday from the villas without having to take a boat out.
The island has a lovely spa where I spent a lot on having various treatments and even a mini golf course. They offer scuba and snorkeling trips a plenty as well as a deserted island for two!!
Check out their website for more information.

Basic but good.
We stayed in a BB No.337. Beach at this area was quiet but not too good for snorkelling. Other side of island much better and usually calmer surface. BB was very basic but met all our needs. Clean and always replenished with fresh towels. On initial sighting had requested an upgrade if one should become available but slowly got used to the BB so remained there for the two weeks. If ever going again I would go for a BV.
Beware the tops of the coconut trees are usually over the accommodation and when the coconuts fall, initially they do give you a fright, after a while they become second nature, but if your using the outside toilet at night time, well thats a different story.
From many BBs there is no direct view to the ocean due to the vegatation growth on that side of the island.

Beach Bungalow: Sleeping in the Indian Ocean
Beach Bungalows
I loved our bungalow! There is a deck in the front with 2 chairs and a table, and a faucet to wash the sand off your feet.
Inside are white walls plenty of closet space for two weeks worth of clothes, two wicker chairs and matching table, dressing table, double bed and side tables. If you forget to bring your own cd's (as I did) you can borow some from reception. Of course there is a mini bar and safe.
I loved the open air shower, it was a good size bathroom and it was nice to watch the fruit bats flying high above in the trees while you shower.
The beach was a 30 second walk from our bungalow where we enjoyed many mornings reading and sunning ourselves. We couldn't swim in the water there because of the rocks and coral, but it made for some very interesting wild life watching. There are hermit crabs every where and they are adorable! At night we took our flashlight and sat on the beach behind our bungalow, we often saw sting rays in the shallows and one evening we were about a foot away from a baby eel as it swallowed a little crab whole. Even if you don't have a flashlight just sitting on the beach you will enjoy a magnificant view of the stars.
Even though we had bungalows to each side of us, it always felt very private we rarely saw our neighbors and always had a little section of the beach to ourselves for sunbathing. I did read a review that said the back of the beach bungalows looked like a bomb shelter, funnily enough we didn't spend much of our two weeks staring at the back of the bungalow.
In a nutshell, I loved our bungalow! Oh yeah, it was cleaned two times a day, we never had to ask for fresh towels they were just there when went back to our room.
As far as tipping goes, for 2 weeks we left the server $30 and the housekeeper $20. I felt that this was not enough money, but I read in the tv room on the resort that for a server they should be tipped approximately $15 a week and housekeepers $10 a week. Tipping barstaff is at your discretion, you will be served by more than one so I guess you pick your favorites. Bearing in mind that the average Maldivian earns about 2$-3$ a week.

Beach Villas: Go with the majority
Every Accomodation on the island is self contained. You eat in a central entertainment area, and so all accomodations are pretty much made up of a bedroom / living area, and a bathroom.
In my opinion - the Beach Villas are the best ones to to go for.
The basic Beach Bungalows are a little smaller, only have cold water on tap, and are facing out on to the the much rougher beach on the North side of the island. Some even have palm trees growing up through their patios!
Beach Villas are found on the much nicer South side of the island, and have much finer beaches (despite being just 400 yards from the north beaches).
Villas are also available with Jacuzzis at an extra cost, but given the emense all-day high temperatures, and the rapidly expanding Gecko population, you probaly won't want to sit in one for too long.
For the honeymooners, and those of fatter wallet size there are the Water Villas. These are essentially the same as the Beach Villas, except - you guessed it - there out over the water. Again, though - they are on the north side of the island and are surrounded by slightly rougher seas. By the way - the Water Villa right on the end of the boardwalk is the Honeymoon Villa, and has a patio door facing out exactly where the sun sets - aaah!
