Manzschir, interior of the ger

In Mongolia we enjoyed our stays in the gers. The interiors of these spacious tents are very colourful. In the ger are four beds and they are very comfortable to sleep and live in. The outer and innermost material of the ger is canvas with a layer of felt sandwiched in between. If it's cold there is a stove in the middle for heating and if it's hot the sides of the ger can be rolled up.

Manzshir, ger camp

Near the area of the Manshir Monastery we stayed in a ger camp on a beautiful spot surrounded by mountains.
The camp is near a ugly restaurant (in the form of a church-mosque) in complete disharmony with its environment, developed by Japanese and constructed by Chinese, opposite a golf-course in development.
The view from the roof of the tower of the restaurant is fabulous, not seeing the building itself. Anyway we enjoyed also the wodka and beer in the warm panorama bar.

Palace Hotel

One of the better hotels in Ulaanbaatar with nice rooms, and it is conveniently located near to the Zaisan Memorial, Bogd Khan Winter Palace, stadium where the Naadam Festival is held. It is also short walking distance from the city centre, including the famous Sukhbataar Square.

Zaluuchuud: Moth covered room

In the first room we got there where dead and dried Moths all over the floor and there where cocoons on the walls and in the curtains. The room had apparently not been used or looked at for a couple of weeks (maybe months).
The second rooms seemd OK, a little dirty and smelly, but when we returned from downtown later in the evening the disco had begun in the neighbouring house. So we moved to our third room which was alright. Clean and quiet.
There was always a language problem but with a little sign language and some english we managed to change rooms, get taxis and arrange for a wakeup call (no telephone so a girl came in her pyjamas and woke us up, 0,5h late :)

Nothing really.
