If your looking for a Great base in Kathmandu then look no further than the "The Danfe Rest Home" (“The Kathmandu View”) I also stayed here on my 2004 trip, The same Hotel, A lot of the same Friendly Staff but the name had changed -- Last time I satyed there it was called "The Hotel Greeting Palace " Situated in North Thamel, it is quiet, run by friendly staff, has good Hot showers, Nice rooms, Clean and also has free safety deposit box's !! Prices like everywhere in Kathmandu are negotiable and much depends on the time of year as well as your negotiating skills but a room on your own, en-suite starts around $5 and sharing from around ?8 for the room !! There is a dining room but " Pilgrims Guest House which is next door has a great garden where you can sit out and eat !! I again stayed at this hotel for my short 2007 visit and Guess What – it has changed it’s name yet again and is now called “The Kathmandu View”. Other than that the hotel is much the same as it’s always been, The prices have gone up slightly But that’s up to you to negotiate your own deal, Less than $10 for a Nice en-suite room, Quiet location, Efficient friendly staff, So still a Good Choice for Kathmandu Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: PO Box 7366, Kathmandu, NepalPhone: 977-1-4417212, 4426598Directions: North Thamel next door to the popular Pilgrims Guest-HouseWebsite: http://www.hotelkathmanduview.com/ Other Contact: info@hotelkathmanduview.com

the nicest 'tea house' in the mountains.. by eelaine this was the best place we stayed in up in the mountains of annapurna.. it was the last nite of our poon hill trek.. the perfect finale to our trek.. our guide insist that he chose the place to stay in ghandruk.. and we definitely loved every minute of this place.. the best part was we arrived early here.. so, we really got to enjoy the place.. to make reservations, call kisam gurung, the owner.. the number provided is a public phone in the village.. when you call, someone will pick up, give a shout to him and he'll come running.. :)
the cottage, run by a friendly couple, is kept immaculately clean and is very cozy.. nice large rooms and lovely toilets with hot shower.. also, the food is absolutely delicious.. the chicken chilly is a must.. so, is the cottage dal bhat.. a house specialty.. :) what more can we ask for? the owner has two very playful dogs and 3 very adorable daughters.. ;) Theme: OtherComparison: about averageAddress: ghandruk-3, kaski-nepal.Phone: +976 1 529322 / +976 1 529310

"Shanka Garung" outside the Bamboo Guest-House by into-thin-air This was one of our Favourite lodges on the Trek !! Run by an amazingly friendly and knowledgeable guy, Simple rooms but Clean, HOT Showers -- in fact so hot that you had to add cold water -- practically unheard of when trekking !! a Really Nice dining-room and Excellent Food !! This is the second lodge of four in the tiny village of Bamboo when walking in !! Highly Recommended !! As far as I am aware, the information in this tip is still as good now as when I wrote it in 2004 -- Happy Trekking -- Rob Theme: Pension/GuesthousePrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about average

Kathmandu by bijo69 Good place right in the center of Thamel. Rooms are clean with attached bathroom and the hotel staff is very friendly. They store your luggage free of charge when you go on a trek.
Beautiful roof terrace.

Pokhara, Nepal by butterfly_girl The Fish Tail Lodge was a comfortable hotel surrounded by water. The Hotel is on a small island. The fun part of staying at this hotel is taking a pulley across the water to your room. The rooms were basic, clean and comfortable. The surroundings were very nice with hammocks, lush gardens and a nice dining area with a fireplace. The fireplace was a great spot to sit around with other travelers from around the world. The Fish Tail Lodge is a bit more expensive then other hotels in Pokhara, but if you are looking for security and comfort this would be a good place.

this is one of the nicest and cleanest hotel in this price category.. it costs us 300npr for a triple.. other than the hot shower acting a bit weird, as in we had to switch on the tap at the sink to get the hot water going to the shower, the rest of the room is just great..
there's a nice garden right in the middle for a good chill out.. they make some great masala tea too.. oooo, it's just perfect to sit there in the garden and enjoy a great cup of tea.. actually, make that a pot! :) Theme: Pension/GuesthousePrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: lakeside, pokhara-6, nepal.Phone: +977 61 521493Directions: it's in lakeside.. very near to the greenline office..Website: www.pokharalodge.com Other Contact: info@pokharalodge.com

Annapurna Base Camp by into-thin-air We didn't actually stay at Annapurna Base Camp, there is little point in dragging your Heavy pack up the 500m here unless you are going to spend a day or so trekking around the area, So what we did was got up at Machhapuchre Base Camp VERY Early and trekked up here for the early Morning views and Breakfast -- It is about a two and a half hour trek up without a pack !! The Views are Awesome and the breakfast wasn't half bad !!!
