Wishing Buddha at Swyambhunath Temple.
by goutammitra
There is a wishing Buddha at the entrance of Swyambhunath Temple. This is the side from where you buy tickets, not the long stairs. The locals along with many others throw coins which has to land at Buddha's feet. You have to make a wish offer prayer to Lord Buddha and then throw the coin in such a manner that it lands at his feet.
Hey I was successful where as Munu & Rakhi could not land their coins at Buddha's feet. If you dont' believe it just do it for fun. It will cost you nothing only a few coins the money goes to Swyambhunath Temple development fund! You are not cheated.

Around Kathmandu Valley
by schlumpf
This is the point, organize a self excurion in Kathmandu valley or jire a car for the whole day?
I could suggest you to hure a car for the whole day, first of all as you can leave or stay longer in a place, following your own wishes, then, if you are mopre then one, the cost is not that bad.
I spent 35USD for a whole day in a Jeep 4x4 and my itinerary included all the main sites in the Valley + Nagarkot...So, a good price!
In Thamel there are a lot of agency but you will get mad on those. The easiest way to organize something like that is to ask for it in your GH, there you can bargain with more quietness the price...easiest and more relaxant!!!!
That’s what I did.
Traveller favourite
by illumina about Kumari Restaurant
This restaurant on Freak street does a combination of local Nepali fare and traveller orientated western food, and it's very good value. We ate here twice - the cheese pakauda are very good for a light lunch, and they do good breakfasts too. A really nice relaxed place to eat.
