Home away from home

I was picked up by the friendly hotel staff from the airport and we drove back to the hotel. It took about 20 mins. Upon my arrival to the hotel, I was greeted by two very hospitable ladies at the reception. After filling up a form which all guests do, I was given a welcome drink of my choice and was shown to my clean room. It has an attached bathroom with hot shower. They also have a menu in the room so if you are too tired to eat out, just dial the extension and your food will be served in your room. You can also eat at their restaurant on the 1st floor or in the garden outside. The food is great and served by very efficient and polite service staff.

The hotel also provides free internet service. A mineral water dispenser, located on the 1st floor, dispenses both hot & cold water and its free. Through the hotel's Travel Desk also on the 1st floor, you will be able to book domestic flights, hotels in other cities/towns, bus tickets, guides, trekking expeditions, water rafting...the list goes on. Just approach them if you have any queries. For laundry services, check with the reception.

If you intend to check-out and check-in again after a couple of days/weeks, you can leave behind any extra luggage with the hotel. They store it in a room with an ID tag.

On most nights, you will experience power failure. It could last from 1-3 hours. Luckily, the hotel has a generator as back-up so there is never a dark moment really.

The hotel sits pretty in a very good quiet location. A 5-min walk to Thamel (shopping), a 10 min walk to Kathmandu Durbar Sq. 45-min walk to Swayambhunath. 2-hour walk to Boudhanath. 2-hour walk to Patan. If you don't like walking, take a taxi...

"I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in." - John Muir, writer
