Sacrifices to Buddha
by duke0123
The people of Nepal are making sacrifices to Buddha and other gods or goddesses. These sacrifices are a part of their religion. The offerings can exist of food and flowers.
It is interesting to see how these people profess their religion.

Chilling in Thamel
by traceyspacey about Jatra
Jatra is very relaxed and chilled. Either sit in the courtyard or upstairs looking out on to Thamel. They have live music at the weekends, such as Brazilian/Indian fusion. Makes a change from the majority of the live music available in Thamel. Good selection of cocktails and wine available by the glass. Food isn't bad either. Mixture of locals, expats and tourists. Opens at 5pm. No dress code
an oasis in the city
by equinoxe about Weizen Bakery
Very nicely located in Thamel part of the city. One can come here for a typically European breakfast (freshly baked bread, tea and coffee). Lunch and dinner are delightful, too, with a variety of western and local food (is momo considered local?) According to the information provided by the staff, all the fruits and vegetables are washed and prepared in clean, drinkable water. That means, one can eat fresh salads. I ate. And I'm still alive.
It was my favourite restaurant in Kathmandu. White tables surrounded by trees (main part of the restaurant is on the outside) and friendly atmosphere...
By the entrance there is a little store with freshly baked cakes, cookies and bread. After 8 pm everything is sold half price. Hmmm... I loved soups there! Especially spinach soup served with garlic bread.
