Jomsom KTM Flight in July

by slyons81

Does anyone know how much a flight from JMO to KTM would be in July, and how often these flights occur?

Re: Jomsom KTM Flight in July

by into-thin-air

Above poster is quite correct in all respects, It is the middle of the monsoon season, Flights are often delayed / cancelled due to inclement weather and you do have to fly via Pokhara to get to Kathmandu.
You also have a choice that you can now catch a bus from Jomsom to Beni and from there another to Pokhara, but Monsoon times the road is often washed out.
Likewise there are several daily tourist busses from Pokhara to Kathmandu – However this is a much better road and the chances of busses getting through are far better.
If you book your tickets in advance through a Good Kathmandu agent you should expect to pay about £160 for both flight tickets – But whether you do this or not will depend on how confident you feel and what timescale you are operating within
Good Luck

Travel Tips for Kathmandu

Visa on arrival- a good choice?

by askhokhar

As a citizen of a SAARC country (Pakistan), gratis visa can be obtained upon arrival. However, I called the Nepalese Embassy in Islamabad. They advised me it would be better to get the visa in Islamabad from the Embassy, as it takes time and money at the airport upon arrival.

Walking in the streets of Kathmandu

by sachara

I walked a lot in Kathmandu, especially in the streets between Durbar Square and Thamel.
I enjoyed the many shops and streetstalls selling all kind of goods like bangles, beads, jewellery, cloth, saris, woollen shawls, pashmina's, copper jars, books.
Half of the fun of strolling around was the streetlife with strollers, vendors, customers, rickshaws, charts and even cars forcing through the narrow streets.
Also the last afternoon, just before our plane would leave for Europe, strolling in the streets of Kathmandu was the last thing I did.

The Banks of the Bagmati River

by IreneMcKay

When we walked to Patan we had to cross the Bagmati Bridge the area on the Kathmandu side of the bridge had a lovely temple which I cannot name as it was not even featured on my map. Behind this temple going nearer to the bridge there was an open area teeming with wild monkeys and cows. On the other side of the bridge stretched a shabby shanty town area. The temple was certainly worth a look if you have time. I would also be grateful if anyone could tell me what it was.

Jazz and drinks into the night - Jazz Upstairs

by Saagar about Jazz Upstairs

Jazz Upstairs in Lazimpat is a stayer, but an unlikely one, given the location, basically in a tight loft space, split between two, three rooms, doors removed.
They play very good jazz here, mostly avantguarde and blues-like fusion. Drinks, pillows, chairs, when the music is on there is nowhere to talk, so come for the music. Nothing special.

Mongolian Sizzler!!!

by illa about Royal Garden Restaurant

This is not a small restaurant with a very big garden dining outside. I was so happy to find "ongolian Sizzler" was very tasty, with NRs. 190 only. "Chicken breast with butter rice" is also very very good.

No regret, I went back there the second day and found "mutton pullow" is also a very good try.

I didn't take a picture of this restaurant so I'm putting a street view picture of Thamel. Mongolian Sizzler
