Moon lite lodge: High above Namche.
The moon lite lodge was a really nice place to stay! Very clean and tidy compared to one or two i stayed in while trekking. The rooms were also better built i.e. no gaps in the timbers through to next door, or gaps round the windows for the wind to howl in.
Dining room was really nice and comfortable, got really warm at night in there.
Food was good, plenty to choose from in the menu. All was well priced too.
Views from the rooms if you get one on the front side are great! Mine looked out across all of Namche and onto the mountains behind.... great sunrise in the mornings.
The lodge has a tv in the dining room which has a couple of English language channels i think.
I was the only one there for 2 of the 3 nights i stayed. The family living there were more than helpful, they spoke some English too which helped, as my Nepali was somewhat limited.
Room rates were reasonable, about 100 rupees a night i think (booked through trekking agency) which i think is pretty similar to most of the others.
The only bad thing i could find about this lodge was simply the fact that it was right at the top of Namche, so if you needed to go to the shops or use the internet, it was quite out of the way..... trek down the hill.... then all the way back up!! ....but i guess that also makes it quieter at night, which is a good thing if you need some sleep as there are a lot of dogs around which i did hear howling occasionally in the distance.

Hotel Sherwi Khangba: A Large Family Home
This hotel and museum was initiated and established by Lhakpa Sonma Sherpa, who lost his hearing in 1980, becoming totally deaf.
This hotel is directly connected to the conservation of the Sherpa culture, and the way of life through the museum and the photo galleries and numerous research works that Lhakpa has on site.
I was unfortunate to return from the Everest region sick and spent 5 days here with Lhakpa and his wife. They were so good to me.
The room was only 200 rupees per night (US$3) and I was looked after like I was their own daughter!
The food was also the best I had whilst in the Everest region.
Unique Quality: Ok, so you might be desperate for a shower when you get here and it really is the last place to have one before you head deeper into the mountains. And you can have a hot shower here for the bargain price of us$2.50 :o)
