Fishing in Rupa Tal
by Saagar
Fishing in Rupa Tal is controlled by a local cooperative, thet stocks the lake. If you go there and want to try, you will have to pay a fishing licence (50 RS) and also buy your catch at the end (small fee per kg) or donate your catch. The upside is that you will get some good advice on the way and easy boat hire, too.
Go by bike, motorcycle, jeep, taxi or local bus (ask for Tumkjaanebuskholakochaumaa!!!). Your stopping place is Kholakochau. The fishing coop is located at the end of the lake an short walk from the main settlement.
Tea and Omelette
by goutammitra about Roadside Cafe Lake front.
What to do if it rains at the Lake front? No where to go, nothing to see just killing your time. Well this is exactly happened with us when we went to the Lake side for boating on the day of our arrival. It started raining so our hope for boating was over as we ran for shelter along with many other tourists. The road side stalls offered us and others shelter expecting that we shall have tea! But we ended up having excellent omellete( of local Nepali origin) and tea. I tell you it tasted much better than what we thought. The American girl ( see picture) too freaked out on this. Price wise it was very cheap Rs. 24/- Nepali or Rs 18 in Indian currency. Their family runs on tourism money so I gladly paid the amount.
When I took her permission to take photograph, the shop owner lady asked why, I said I will put on VT. She hesitated for a moment then said yes without knowing what is VT or what is internet!!! But I will always remember this lady and her omelette and the way she offered us shelter for more than an hour!
Sarangkot:More than views

After most tourists left (after sunrise), do stay a while. We had a very pleasant time, drinking Nepali tea and having conversations with the local people. You get an idea of day-to-day living and also how some of the handicrafts are made.
The hour or two we had here (after the tourist-rush), were another of the highlights of my visit to Nepal. The friendliness of the Nepali people is amazing.
Massage

There are many massage salons/parlours in Pokhara. They offer a variety of massages and treatments, like auyervedic, Nepali etc.
The average fee for an hour is between NRs 1000 and NRs 1200.
Therapists are professional and well trained.
Chipledhunga in Pokhara city centre
by Saagar
Don't miss out on vibrant Chipledhunga. This is the centre of Pokhara trade and commerce, which has shifted slightly from Mahendrapul.
The streets are rather neat and clean, wide and quite a pleasure to visit.
Shopping here is easy - there is nothing of the pushiness of Lake Side, and the products are what they appear to be. Theremare some nice cafes and restaurants around, too, none of them geared toward the tourist crowd, but that's a qualification, too!
