Great Refuge

Stayed 6 nights in three different rooms Nov 2011 between Treks. Double rooms have single beds that are very very firm . . quite hard, actually, but good nights sleep nonetheless. Strange mix of luxury and 3rd world . . lovely granite sinks uptop, rusty pipes and disintegrating grout below, scarce hot water. Gardens are beautiful and clean; nice refuge from Nepal's generally crowded and littered and dirty street life. Staff was great . . always seemed to produce the right room key even when we couldn't remember what room we were in. Pool is colder than Spring runoff from Everest. Maybe there is a hot day in July when its swimmable . . but it looks pretty anyway. Free Internet is only in the restaurant courtyard, free breakfast is okay, but its a concerted effort to flag down the one and only roaming coffee girl. Great location a long block off the main street and the lake . . really peaceful. Rent bikes right outside for sightseeing. Its actually a campus of at least three hotel buildings up to three floors, with grand stone steps and statues. Rooms varied greatly in size and finishes. . even the locks in each room were different (you need the key to lock the room in one of them)

Great Hotel for the great city,Pokhara.

I really had a great time in pokhara. Barahi was the perfect hotel for me while i was in pokhara. The mountain view room was just great,.. The customer service was pretty nice too. The pool and the bar on the side of the pool was awesome. I enjoyed having my drinks and chillaxing in the pool. 2 minutes from the lakeside nightlife. Heart of lakeside. The hotel is totally changed and upgraded. Now they have 85 rooms . Very quite and relaxing environment. peace of mind kind of place. I definitely recommend tHOTEL BARAHI. Enjoy.

Unique Quality: Pool.
24hour BAR.
2 restaurant
2 conference hall
great garden.
too many to list.
You gotta check it out to believe.

We stay 3 night at Barahi hotel located 2 minutes walking distance to Phewa Lake and shopping area.

The room are clean and free Wi-Fi provided, you can communicate with your family using PC and Skype free.

Unique Quality: The swimming pool and Wi-Fi are great, at the night sometime they perform local dancer.

From your room you can see great Himalaya view; Anapurna, Machapuchre (Fish tail)

A bit upmarket

By advice of an agent who negotiated we stayed in Hotel Barahi and enjoyed it. The rooms and garden are big and enjoyable, but now with the downturn of tourism there was a sense of doom. The service level was so-so compared to the expected standard, and the kitchen was slow. The general experience I have had with Lakeside hotels - opposed to guesthouses - is that they cannot keep up their service levels in the kitchen and housekeeping as it once was. With the upturn of tourism their grandiose facade will once again be reflected inside the rooms and services...

Unique Quality: What I appreciated most was their large garden with nice flowers.
I threw a party for 20 people and the chicken daal bhat they cooked up was great, and everybody was happy.
