Kathmandu-Pokhara by air
by Saagar
These airlines service Pokhara:
Buddha Air
Cosmic Air
Yeti Airlines
Gorkha Arlines
Everest Air
RNAC - Royal Nepal
Sita Air.
The fare hovers around 70 USD one way, nearly the same for all airlines. The fastest is Buddha, but they have troubles with schedules these days (see Nepal transportation tip), the best bet for availability is probably Cosmic, which has larger aircrafts.
Good atmosphere, good Italian food
by Saagar about Bella Napoli
Good place to hang out and laze away the day. At the southern end of Lakeside, there are not that many customers competing about the chairs, but that's not due to the food. Good stuff here. I mainly go here for breakfast; the early sun hits the front tables and life feels good... Varied breakfast menu.
Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave
by illumina
Across the road from Devi's Falls is this cave, which contains a stalagmite which is worshipped as a Shiva lingam, and has a small temple built around it, inside the cave (No photography allowed). The entry ticket for this is 30NPR, but this does not cover what lies beyond... for an extra 20NPR, you can descend into further tunnels, to emerge in a large cavern behind Devi's Falls.
The Peace Pagoda
by Saagar
Needed now more than ever, the Peace Pagoda stands high and prominent on the Bhim-Phedi ridge across the Pewa Lake from Pokhara.
The Pagoda, built with assistance from several Buddhist nations (Japan and Thailand prominent) has South East and East Asian style and feel and is sterile compared to the inimacy of Nepalese-Tibetan architecture. Never mind, it's a wonderful place with a commanding view of the Pokhara city, plains, mountains and the lake.
There are itinerant snacks stalls on top, but do bring your own water bottle for the trail.
