Head-cases

You'll see lots of people in and around Pokhara, particularly the women, with these large baskets on their backs (often overflowing with whatever they are carrying), and instead of having straps that go over the shoulders, these have a strap that goes around the forehead.
A super restaurant in the town centre
by Saagar about Almonds
Up in Chipledhunga in the real centre of Pokhara (not Lakeside), there is a restaurant you should not miss: Almonds. It carries a Nepali translation of that name, too: (now, what was that again...? - ahh Badam!!).
This is a restaurant run and set up by and for locals. But as a visitor - do not miss out on this place! The cook and the other other people who run it have been lauhres and learned cooking and restaurant operations in Japan, thus this place is a professional one. The service and the food is impeccable.
It's rather new, has been around for a few years.
The interior design is inspired by village houses and stone walls, and is really, really cosy, yet spacious. It has rapidly become popular with business people and the youthful adult section of Pokhara.
A comprehensive menu covers just about all what there is in the Nepali-Indian Himalayan food realm. They have a good tandoor and know how to use it.
If this restaurant had been located on Lakeside, it would have been full of people and ... would have had a corrupted menu... Now it's full of locals looking for good food! But iut is not a noisy place. I take my aquaintances here for celebratory meals. Like any good and popular modern Nepali restaurant mimicking home cooking it is minding its snacks department very well. In fact, extremely good on the snacks and sekuwa - the roasted chilli nuts I still remember very well.
There is also much good tandoori food on the table here, including more specific parts of the chicken - unheard of elsewhere, where the animals come out of the pot broken, cut, bruised and crushed. At Almonds I had tandoori drumstick as mains!
Good selection of drinks, too.
The Mighty Annapurna Range.
by goutammitra
We were about to miss it's view but I took a chance to get up early and wait for the range to be visible on a rainey morning. And surely God was pleased with me, the sun came out only for abot 15mts or so, and I was able to click about 40 Pictures though not very clear. Rakhi and Munu were also delighted!!
This range stretching from west to east includes Dhaulagiri, South Annapurna, Annapurna 1, Hiunchuli, Fish-tail (Machapuchare), Annapurna 3, Annapurna 4, and Annapurna 2. In Pokhara, the holy unclimbed mountain Macchapucchre (or also known as Fishtail Mountain), located in the middle of the Annapurna range, can be seen standing right in front of our nose.
Everyone in Pokhara wakes up early to greet the mountains during sunrise. The reflection of sunlight from a mountain is always a breathtaking site. You will never forget the sight of the fishtail mountain standing right before your eyes saying "Good Morning!"
Sarangkot.
by euzkadi
Sarangkot is a small village that stands 1,592 metres high, and is famous for its great views of the Annapurna range. The walk up to the viewpoint starts from the Bindabasini temple and takes three hours. We took a taxi half way up at 4.00 am to be at the viewpoint before sunrise; it was a hard 45 minutes climb, under rain, fog and chilly weather, there are several stone steps leading to the top. We didn't quite make it for the best views, all the mountains where covered by heavy haze, but even with that had some great views of the valley.
