Reliable driver and jeep in Pokhara
by Saagar
Finding a 4x4 vehicle and a reliable driver isn't so easy as a lone or independent tourist in Pokhara.
But try to contact Shyam Lama who lives out in Lekhnath 2 just east of Pokhara on telephone 9846021272 and enquire with him.
He may well show up with his landrover, helper, local knowledge of people, places roads and conditions in the vicinity of Pokhara.
I want to give him my best recommendations. Price is a bit higher than for a less well maintained vehicle and for a less knowledgeable driver, but I'd put my bet on Shyam for getting you safely there and back.
Pokhara, starting point for trekkings
by duke0123
Pokhara is completely different than Kathmandu. It's more relaxing although many travelers come to this place.
In Pokhara are a lot of souvenir shops but because a lot of people are planning a trek from this place there are also a lot of shops for outdoor trekkings.
When you are in Pokhara I advise you to walk up to Sarangkot at a height of 1592m. There are several routes to the top, the variety is easy to difficult. It depends on yourself which route you want to take.
At least you arrived at the top. When you are lucky with the weather, the best time to walk up is in the morning, the view is tremendous: the tops of the Himalaya. This is a very good reward for your climb, though this is not too difficult.

Just above the Fall there is a statue of Manokamana Goddess( Goddess Durga), You may throw coins from the top and make a wish. If it lands at her feet your wish will surely be granted. Wanna give it a try?
The second Rainbow is also visible from the top, have a look at the pictures.
Fish traps in the rivers of Pokhara valley
by Saagar
In nearly all trhe sizeable tributaries to Sethi Khola coming in from various parts of Pokhara Valley there is an abundance of fish, and even freshwater crabs and shrimp.
In the more sizeable rivers there are ingenious semi-permanent fish traps made from bamboo. They are very well made and the concept is smart: You can close or activate according to need, and the smaller fish and fry passes through without being caught.
