Travel Tips for Pokhara

From Poon Hill

by herzog63

This is the view you will be rewarded with if you trek up to Poon Hill!! Which is located on the Annapurna Trek. I've forgotten the names of the mountains but they are beautiful. It takes about an hour of a steep hike to get to Poon Hill from Ghodapani.

Super food, clean, convenient Nepali-Japanese

by Saagar about Yakitori Restaurant

Rosh bhai went to Japan, worked up an appetite for Japanese yakitori dishes and invested some of his money in this restaurant upon returning. Somewhat similar to the Almonds story (up in Chipledhunga), but this was to be a small, intimate, slightly more limited in scope and customers restaurants. Along some traditional nepalese meals you will find some Japan-inspired noodle dishes and, exactly, the speciality of the place, yakitori chicken.
Very clean and decent place, absolutely recommendable. Very convenient if you are waiting for a bus departure (Pokhara bus park being just around the corner), or if you have arrived and can't wait to have something apart from street stall food and really want to splurge. I liked the yakitori, but there was a difficult choice on the menu. Much good food on offer.
Good news for all Japanese. The owner speaks Japanese, too! Ask for Rosh!

The famous Pokhara lake reflection

by victorwkf

Go to the portion of Lake Phewa near the dam to witness the famous lake reflection landscape. This is best during early morning when the water is still and pray hard that the sky is clear and the mountains are visible. I was not so lucky but nevertheless the photos turned out well.

Barahi Temple on the Fewa Lake.

by goutammitra

This temple is located in the middle of the Fewa Lake and is accessible by boat. The temple is of Goddess Barahi or Goddess Durga. This place has been visited by all the reigning Kings of Nepal and their families. The Nepalese people visit this place regularly. The temple is centuries old.

Pokhara

by illumina

Pokhara is Nepal's third largest city, and is beautifully situated between Phewa Tal (lake) to the south and the start of the Annapurna range of mountains to the north. It is possible to see three 8000-ers (mountains over 8000m or 26,247 ft, of which there are only 14 on earth!), including Annapurna itself, which was the first one to be climbed. However, at a mere 6,993m, it is Machhapuchhre, the Fishtail, which most catches the attention, although its famous twin peaks can't both be seen from Pokhara.
