Gillani's Regency: The Best in town for me

I stayed there last weekend and I enjoyed it. I was with my family and kids loved it more.
Rooms were clean and bathrooms were cleaner and the service was also at its best. 24 hours
hot water and the best of all they had UPS for the power failures. I didnt try their kitchen as we were always eating outside but the breakfast was good. I would like to stay there again whenever I visit Abbottabad again.

SARBAN HOTEL, ABBOTABAD: Abbottabad's Good Family & Economical Hotel

In this July 2010, I was heading to Naran valley with my family. Starting from Lahore it was a long distance, so we plan to have a night stay in Abbotabad. I have visited Abbottabad before many times but did not got a chance to stay in any hotel. We reached there at evening and started search for hotel. Wandering on the Mall road searching for hotel was not good experience as night was falling. Some hotels were very expensive and some were not upto the mark to stay with family. I saw a board of "Sarban Hotel" which I have ignored many times and decided to give it a look inside. Its front was just like the entrance of a parking area which was not very attractive. But when I drove in, to my surprise there was good parking place and a big reception hall. Atmosphere was very comfortable along with very economical room rent of Rs. 2500 (double bed with AC and including one extra mat-res). The reception and room attendant were very nice. Room, bath & bed linens were neat & clean, and we feel like home. The hotel has a big terrace from where one can view the old city of Abbotabad hanging on the mountains. It have a reasonable restaurant that is a bit expensive.

For stay with family in Abbotabad, this Hotel is most recommended.

Shimla Resort: Worst hotel in Abbottabad

The "resort" called Shimla resort in Abbotabad was the worst hotel I have ever
stayed in. I cannot remember ever getting such bad service. The staff at
this Shimla "resort" were disorganized and the facilities were VERY bad.

We had no choice but to stay there for one night. It was horrible.

The rooms in this hotel had no netting on the windows. Since there was no
air conditioning, I had to leave the windows open. There were red ants on the floor of the room and the walls. If I kept the
window closed, then we would have no air circulating in the room. The
ledge outside the window revealed rows of ants and other bugs walking in.

I went with my wife and daughters there. Any one could have come in
at night on the ground floor with the windows open there.

When I brought this to the attention of the person on the front desk, he
told me to sit in the dark with the windows open. I am paying for a dark
room in resort??

At 11 pm the "manager" decided to
watch Z TV at full blast in the front of the hotel. There are no carpets
and the noise level was very high. Added to this shrill sound were some
kids who were running and screaming in the halls. The manager ignored
these kids and went about watching the show.

When I approached them about this noise, he appeared to be surprised that
we actually wanted to sleep. He told me that I should not be expecting three star hotels here.

This hotel is not even worth half
a star. A more appropriate term would be a black hole.

The toilet released sewer smells every time we flushed. This is an easy
problem to fix should the owners be bothered.

The bathrooms are a death trap if you are not careful. The wiring on the
water heater is right above where one would take a shower. The wires are
rusted and open. The light fixtures in the bathroom are broken with
loose wires. I could not take a shower there because of the stink and fear of
electrocution.

Third class. Go to Pearl instead or better yet lay down on the street. It'll be cheaper.

The cutlery in the kitchen was dirtier than that found on streetside cafes. We did not eat there. Do not go there.

Cantt View Hotel: Living in the heart of Abbottabad

Reasonable price with good service. They give you two beds with blankets and an attached washroom.

Not that good facilities but that you can live at a very decent price with everyplace in Abbottabad near you.
