Holiday Inn Lahore
Stayed here twice, once while they were still a member of the Holiday Inn group, at that time everything about the stay was fine. Stayed after they changed from Holiday Inn to Hospitality Inn, awful! Service is lousy! Our rooms were given away despite the fact that we called ahead (in afternoon) to tell them we were delayed and would not arrive until around midningt.
They advertise that they accept Amex, there is even a wall plaque in reception saying as much... That is, until you actually try to pay with it and you're told, no, we dont accept that.. Even pointed to the wall behind the person - "see, it even says so behind you that you accept it", "No we dont." "But it says right there that you DO accept it". "No we dont". Repeat 10 times with same result.
The information folder (you know, the one that is standard in every hotel room, it lists the phone numbers for the different things/services the hotel offers including to information about the hotels amenities), this was missing from our suite (that we were forced to take when our room was given away), and they refused to give us a new on until after the manager had gone through our room herself to check for it!?
And the restaurants? Lahore Gates is in a class of its own... Being somewhat fed up with the local tendency to shove green chili peppers into everything I ordered what was described as grilled lamb chops, brushed lightly with garlic. What I got? Lamb chops, drowned in mushroom sauce and wait for it - tonnes of green chili peppers... Anyway, when I asked why I had not gotten the dish described on the menu, but something else? "this is the way it is served". "But, this is not what is described?" "This is the way it is served". Repeat this ten times and you get the general gist of things.. Oh, and to add insult to injury, also got sick after eating at this restaurant...
Conclusion: AVOID! Hotel & the restaurants both!
Next time we're staying at the Avari.
You get what you pay
Rooms are similar to Avari Hotel but cheaper. Inside the hotel, one feels a bit cramped. Parking facility is not at par with a rated hotel. Food in the restaurants is good but not worth recommendation.
Directions: Located on Egerton Road in front of Aiwan-e-Iqbal Complex. Walking distance from Avari Hotel.
Room and Services
I stayed in Holiday Inn for 3 months during my last stay in Lahore. As in other hotels, the facilities which is available to guest are such as gym, swimming pool, saloon, sauna, table tennis and 24 hours rooms service(food). The best thing I liked about the hotel is when you use WOL internet (Local internet prepaid card) dialup from the hotel, they dont charge you per connection, it's free and the hotel also has free wireless internet services.
Well, now comes the bad side of my stay, I found cockroaches in the closet and bathroom. Also happen to spot cockroaches a few times in the buffet. This is the last thing someone wants to see in their list during a stay in hotel. If you ever check in to this hotel, please check your room twice.
The door card always becomes inactive and have to go back to the reception a few times in a week to recharge the card. Imagine how would you feel after a long day work and they never really bother for an improvement even after complaints.
Food is not served as what they promised in the room service booklet in the room and when I asked them why the food differs and the answer is " this is what mentioned in the room service booklet ". The worst part is, YOU CANT BRING OUTSIDE FOOD to the hotel. When I questioned them why, the reply is simple "RULES", no explaination given. You either order from room service if you want to eat in your room or your eat outside the hotel itself.
Basically, the service is very bad.
Unique Quality: Wireless Internet.
Directions: Egerton Road
