Circuit House Nagarparkar: If You Have the 'Jugaar'!

In Nagarparkar, we stayed at the Circuit House, a government residence, thanks to a 'jugaar'. That was a decent place to stay; big, maintained, clean, and whatever you would like that to be in a remote desert town.

Bedrooms had functioning ACs, lounge has plenty of comfortable sofas and a TV set with cable, kitchen was big with attached dining hall, enough sockets for charging gadgets, and even the building had a nice elevation.

So if you have the 'jugaar' then nothing can beat that place.

And if you don't have one, still then there must be a chance as Nagarparkar is not as 'pasmanada' as one would think and there must be reasonable places to stay in the town which can be booked spontaneously.

Diamond Hotel and Restaurant: A Clean Place in Mithi, Thar

Though we did not stay at Diamond Hotel and Restaurant and neither it is located in Nagarparkar town, mentioning this place would be worthwhile for travelers.

This hotel is actually located in Mithhi city; around 2-3 hours before Nagarparkar and can be a good place if one wants to break the journey and stay overnight.

I checked the rooms on the first floor and in fact used the toilet both of which looked clean as it was newly built. The place is right in the center of Mithi city with all available facilities on the walking distance. We also tried their food which was of good quality, given the circumstances.

Rs. 300-500 shall be good enough for a double room.

Chohra?: Typical Thari Home

Thari villagers live in their traditional igloo like home called Chohra(?) – which is customized as per the needs and requirements of a desert. Though for a traveler, it might not be practical to stay there but if requested politely, locals might be happy to show the house from inside, which is actually one-room-fits-all kind of thing.

This type of a house is peculiar to life in Thar and may not be seen in the other parts of the country..
